SHA Board of Directors Highlights June 2012 Meeting
Actual minutes to be posted on the SHA website: www.sugarwood.org.
The board reviewed a letter from the Town of Farragut requesting that residents with property adjoining the Derby Run property discontinue blowing mower clippings on the Derby Run property.
The lock at the tennis courts has been lost. The board will acquire a new lock and distribute the
unlock code to residents interested in playing tennis. Concern has been expressed about residents blowing yard waste into the storm sewer drains. The
Town of Farragut indicates that the storm sewer drains should not be used to dispose of yard waste. A second notice will be issued to residents who still have unpaid dues.

Proper Disposal of Yard Waste
The Town of Farragut has issued a letter to Sugarwood residents
with property adjoining Derby Run asking residents to cease
blowing mower clippings onto the Derby Run property. If your

clippings onto their property.
Also, do not blow or dispose of yard waste in
the storm sewer drains. The Town of Farragut
indicates that this is not allowed.

July with the Stingrays
Riddle: What has 220 feet, 220 arms, and 110 smiles?
Answer: The Sugarwood Stingrays, of course!
A couple of Stingrays are smiling particularly big as they proudly complete their final eligible season with
the rays. Swimmers cannot be over 18, so with high school graduation comes the Stingray Senior Swim.
At the last home meet in June, Madison Brown and Rebekkah Barrett were honored for their many years of
Stingray swimming. Bekkah made a big splash as she took her honorary final lap in her home pool while
friends and family cheered. Best wishes to both of you as you take your Stingray smiles to the University
of Tennessee this fall.
Watch for patriotic Stingray smiles in the Farragut July 4th Independence Day Parade. Every year the swim
team brings a little water fun to the hot dryland celebration.
The Rays hit the road in July, taking Stingray pride to neighboring pools as far as Alcoa. The annual
Smoky Mountain Invitational Meet will be held July 7th and 8th at Springbrook Pool. This competition is
limited to swimmers who do not swim on year-round teams and has yielded many ribbons and medals for
Stingrays in the past.
The next week on Thursday the 12th, the Rays will go to the Peninsula Club pool for a dual meet which will
begin at 6pm.
The final dual meet of the Ray season will be held on Tuesday, July 17th at 6pm at the Gulfwood Gator
pool.
The Stingray season will end with the annual Greater Knoxville Area
Interclub Swimming Association (GKAISA) city wide swim meet.
This competition is an exciting three day (27th through 29th) affair held
at the impressive University of Tennessee aquatic center.
Riddle #2: What has 110 stings and is happy and sad at the same time?
Answer: The Stingrays at the end of their season. They're fired up
from a great summer swim season but sad to see it draw to a close. The
great news is that those friendships formed around the pool can live out
of water too, so Stingrays have something to smile about year round.
Play Set Wanted We would like to replace the play set at the
recreation area. (The old one had to be
removed for safety reasons.) If you have a
gently used play set that you would like to
donate, please contact one of the SHA
Board Members.
Swim Lessons Just a reminder that the lifeguards at the
Sugarwood pool are available to give
swimming lessons to your children. If
you are interested, please contact the
pool manager
