Dear Nobles and Ladies,
Hello to all Nobles and Ladies,
this year is really flying by! The
2019 Shriners Ball has came and
gone and it was a huge success!
If you didn’t have a chance to be
there you missed a large time.
The McNeese Center looked
wonderful with all the beauti-
ful decorations and the Silent
Auction was well supported
and a huge success. Thanks to
everyone who help make this
whole event a big hit! I would
like to thank our guest speaker
David Henderson Chairman of
the Houston Shriners Hospital
for a wonder speech, I hope he
likes his belt buckle. I would like
to thank our own Noble Joseph
Vargas for being our Master of
Ceremonies and taking care of
the media and keeping the ball
rolling and hosting the event.
We visited the Nolan County
Ribeye Fundraiser on the 13th
of April, it was a wonderful meal.
Thank you Nolan County for the
hospitality and a great meal!
We had a wonderful Stated
Meeting with the Road Kill Cook-
ers doing us a wonderful job as
usual. We had the honor of hav-
ing Thom J.Sloan, CFRE,FACHE,
Administrative Director, Donor
Development, Shriners Hospitals
for Children-Houston, TX, say a
few words at our meal.
The Shrine Ladies Purse
Raffle is still underway and they
need our support to make this a
big fundraiser for the Temple! Our
Number one Sales person con-
tinues to be our Past Potentate
Danny Crowder. I think everyone
in Eldorado has bought a ticket.
Start thinking about TSA ,
your names have been turned
into the Fairfield Inn in Wichita
Falls. There were 19 rooms Changing Seasons
After a long time of not writing
a message to you; I am back at
it again. As many of you know
I have been under the weather
and even spent 4 nights in the
hospital. It has been a long time
to get my strength back. But one
thing I never lost track of was
the presence of God in my life.
I could feel His presence during
those times when I needed him.
Larry Tianen
Chaplain
Chaplains Corner
booked and everyone should
have confirmed his reservations
that plans on being at TSA in
Wichita Falls June 6 through 8th.
Nobles and Ladies, Shelly and
I look forward to seeing each and
everyone of you down the road!
Remember EVERYONE COUNTS
AND MATTERS.
Many Thanks & God Bless!

Technology is moving as such
a fast pace and we are trying
to keep up with it. I am just as
guilty of not taking pictures at
times but we have to remember
to take pictures at our Shrine
Events, Socials, Parades and
special occasions. Remember to
look online to SuezShriners.com
to see our website, the full color
version of our Scribblings, links,
events and more. I did submit
our Website, Facebook page
As the spring turns to summer
and our days seem to change I
also can sense the change in our
lives. We measure our lives in
years but actually measure it by
how we feel. I have met people
who look young for their age and
some who look older for their
age. There comes a time when
time catches up.
Just as God changes the sea-
sons of the year, He also works
in our life to change our life pat-
terns. Stay close to God each
and every day of your life. Give
God the praise for all the good
things that happen in your life and
also those bumps in the road he
helps you through.
God bless all of you,
Chaplain Larry
and last month’s Scribblings into
Imperial for the 2019 Dromedary
Awards. We have won for the
past 2 years and are crossing
fingers for win #3. Things have
been busy for me as I have been
playing Dad and my little girl has
been active in 4-H and the Horse
Club. She is doing great, learning
tons, riding horses, volunteering
and making great memories.
Please forgive my absences at
the Stated Meetings the past few
months because of that. I look
forward to coming down in May
then heading to Nashville with
the group for Imperial Session
2019. Thank you again to Joseph
and JD for their help. We are all a
team. Happy Spring.

On June 6, 1876, the Imperial
Council, the original governing
body of the Shriners fraternity,
was founded. To honor this im-
portant milestone in our history,
Shriners International has de-
clared June 6 as Shriners Inter-
national Awareness Day.
Leading up to Shriners In-
ternational Awareness Day, we
are asking for nominations for a
Shriner who you believe deserves
to be honored and recognized.
This noble is someone who does
a lot for your temple, goes above and beyond in the form of service, upholds the Masonic values, and
demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to both Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for
Children.
To submit a nomination, please send us either a photo with a written explanation (less than 250
words), or a short video (less than one minute), describing the Shriner nominated, and why they deserve
to be acknowledged. Email nominations to [email protected] by May 31.
The 145th Imperial Session of Shriners International will take place in Nashville,, Sunday, June 30
through Thursday, July 4. All nobles, ladies and their families are invited to join Imperial Sir Jim Cain
and Lady Patsy in Music City for the fraternity’s biggest event of the year.

Meet April’s Patient of the Month, Luke—a bright 4-year-old with an endless imagination. Luke has
spent just over a month in the inpatient rehabilitation unit and is already drastically improving his abilities.
When Luke arrived at Shriners Houston, he had poor trunk control when sitting; he could stand with
assistance but with weight bearing mainly on his right leg, and only able to take a few steps. Some of
the focus of his physical training included locomotor training, neuromuscular re-education and balance.
With occupational therapy, he is also achieving fine motor skills and improving his self-care abilities.
Luke is now walking everywhere with a walker, is able to stand on dynamic surfaces and improving
his balance and core strength. We are very proud of all his hard work and how he faces each challenge
with a fun attitude. Way to go Luke!

Daughters of the Nile
Ziphron Temple No. 100 had our first Stated Session on April 7 and everyone is looking forward to a
great new year. Many of our Officers are serving for the first time so we have a lot of enthusiasm.
We are preparing for the Supreme Session which will be held June 9 – 13 in Reno, Nevada. We anticipate another two million dollar year, between the Temples in the U.S. and Canada.
Ziphron Temple No. 100 is considered a small temple, yet last year we donated over $2,000 in cash-
equivalent gifts of sewing and donated Items and cash donations of almost $4,100 for a total over $6,100.
Caelen Hawkins is doing a Crayon drive. She has created the “Kits for Kids” project as her
community service requirement for this school year. She asked her fellow art students to create a
coloring book for the kits. This phase of the project has been completed. Our compliments and appreciation go out to this outstanding young lady. She represents the future of our Order.
“Kits for Kids” is a project that creates a kit given to each child attending a Houston Shriners Hospital
clinic. These clinics are held all over the state and hundreds of kids are seen. These kits are a way
to keep the children occupied while they wait their turn to be seen. The kit consists of crayons, color
pages, a toy, a pencil, a pencil or crayon sharpener, stickers, and a treat. She is now on PHASE 2,
which features 8-packs of Crayola Crayons (specifically the 8-packs). They may be purchased at any
store for under a dollar and Amazon has a bulk package of 48-8-packs for $23. She will continue to
work on more kits during the summer. If you would like to contribute, the mailing / shipping address
is: Janet L. Hawkins, 15027 Turkey Trail Ct, Houston, TX 77079. Caelen is the daughter of Past Queen Janet L. Hawkins and Noble James Hawkins.
We wish you a safe and healthy Imperial Session and TSA Session and a wonderful summer.
~ Jerri Young, Queen
Past Queen Laura Hall was surprised when she was honored with the “Reach for the Stars” Plaque from Ziphron Temple for her many years of service and generosity to our Temple and to the Shriners Hospitals for Children®. A gift of $500 was donated in her honor.
Ziphron Temple Past Queens recognized included Bert Brewer, Betty Johnson, Denise Wilkinson, Frances Godwin and Shirley Culp. The ones whose pictures grace our walls look to us to continue the traditions and hard work they began.
Noble Bob Rogers gave a very informative talk on the state of the Shriners Hospitals and an explanation of current activities.

In a medical emergency every second counts... especially when you are far away
from adequate medical care.
In the event of a serious emergency, whether you are on the highway, on the job, on
the football field, hunting, at the ranch, or at home you can depend on the dedicated
pilots and flight crew at Shannon AirMed 1, the local AirMed Care Network provider, to
be there. They are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 356 days a year.
We have been providing this life saving service to rural communities since 1985. In
recent years we have partnered with some of the leading air ambulance companies
in the country and now provide service across 38 states, with 320 fixed wing and
