Sue’s Family

• Sue was the eldest of 5 children. She was born in Leister on 2nd April 1946. She was married at the age of 18 to a man named Colin and had three children.

How did Sue become Blind?

• Sue suffered from an illness of diabetes. A few years ago tiny blood vessels in her eye started to leak across her retina. She then had laser eye treatment to try and stop the vessels but then her vision became blurry. Two years ago she became partially sighted and from that she became blind.

• Here are some of the series or books that Sue wrote. Rebuilding Coventry,The Queen and I,Ghost Children, Number Ten and Queen Camilla. She also wrote a series of Adrian Mole, Adrian Mole:The Wilderness Years, and Adrian Mole:The Cappuccino Years.

• Here are some of Sue's play scripts – The Ghost of Daniel Lambert, Captain Christmas and the Evil Adults, Bazaar and Rummage, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Ten Tiny Fingers and Disneyland It Ain’t.

About Sue.

• Sue left school at the age of 15. She worked in a variety of jobs including factory worker, shop assistant and joining a writers’ group at the Phoenix Theatre, Leicester. At the age of 35 she won the Thames Television Play write Award for Womberang.
