Cofely was seduced by the ControlBuild approach to model plant behavior in order to easily and deeply validate the automation software with dynamic objects. They impressed by the facility to customize themselves their virtual object to allows software validation handling safe hundreds luggage at the same time,
The Airport division of Cofely offer operations, maintenance and long-term technical management of numerous airport-specific systems, according to guarantee the safety and comfort of passengers.Their specialist services range from baggage handling systems, baggage security screening and passenger boarding bridges, to aircraft guidance and engine starter systems and lighting, all the way to facilities management for buildings and energy saving management..
Objective of the project:- For each conveyer 20 operation tests an 700 security tests- Detect, identify and handle baggage in a very short time without error- Validate the system in full automatic mode before the real launching: we have to be sure of you’re the automation software before.Solution: Use ControlBuild to achieve Factory acceptance test with a functional model connected to the real PLC.Result: Reducing the global cost, quick start-up of the system, and quality improvement of the software.

Challenge
Cofely has to test and validate 6 PLC (including 4 safety PLCs) controlling hundreds conveyors equipped with baggage detection sensor through to 2500 inputs/Outputs.
This challenge means: - validate the software PLC and SCADA,- validate the interconnection between all the different PLC, SCADA and Bagstage programs (sorting software) before the operational start-up,- validate monitoring of the CATSA baggage handling/security check (Canadian Air Transport Security Authority),- perform automated virtual FAT by Scripts (repetition of all tests for each conveyor),- reduce the time to start-up the installation.
"CB has increased significantly the quality of our logic control using many automated scripts, reduce internal testing of interaction between our various systems (IT / SCADA / PLC) and the time start! "said Yan Le Meur (Automation and Technology Watch Expert at Cofely).

ControlBuild has achieved all of these needs. The gain in overall time for all of the validation team was estimated by Cofely to 30%, and more for safety tests. Indeed without simulation, these tests are very difficult to perform on site because it involves having machines based security with operators for decision-making, as well as a large number of suitcases to move in order to simulate different typical cases.
