SUBMARINE TRIPS 2016 SUMMER SEASON

 

   

 

During the summer we offer trips on board of the Yellow Submarine sailing from Puerto Pirámides to watch sea lions, birds and, occasionally, dolphins. It is a trip of an hour and a half which combines sailing along the coasts and their coastal cliffs, with submarine watching of sea fauna.

During the trip, our specialist guides provide an interpretation of the sea and coastal ecosystem. Depending on the level of the tide, the trip starts when the submarine enters into the Cueva de los Fósiles [Fossils Cave]. Later, the submarine sails bordering the sea lions rookery of Puerto Pirámides, in order to watch one of the most spectacular shows the tourist will encounter: the behaviour of South American sea lions during their reproduction

season. The most salient spectacles are those performed by males competing fiercely for the possession of females to form a harem, the abduction of females by young males and the birth of pups.

Finishing the trip, we will approach the small town of Puerto Pirámides which was named because of the pyramidal form of the cliff. During the journey, colonies of migratory sea birds will be seen, which visit these coasts in the summer.
