Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I need to apply for a licence for my link? A. Many countries allow the use of 60GHz without a licence or after payment of a small annual fee. Check the status of you country with your telecoms regulator.
Q. Is Liberator Non Line of Sight or Line of Sight? A. Strictly Line of Sight. There should be no obstructions in the Fresnel zone.
Q. Do Liberator MMW links pose a health risk? A. No, the RF power levels permitted are very low and spread over the whole area of the antenna. Moreover, an antenna will always be positioned well clear of the population.
Q. Will mist, fog, dust or snow affect link performance? A. No. However, rain will have an effect, but we take this into account when planning a link and predicting availability.
Q. How is the Liberator radio unit powered? A. The Liberator radio uses the 802.3at PoE standard. Providing a minimum of 18W is available, any compatible supply can be used – including solar.
Q. Why is the Ethernet cable factory fitted to the Outdoor Radio Unit? A. This is done to ensure there will be no water ingress and to preserve the 24 month warranty.

Compact plug and play wireless Ethernet bridges, broadcasting up to 1Gb per second up to a distance of 1km
Applications
Wireless Backhauling Sub10 has supplied 90 wireless bridges to a mobile phone service provider in Vienna, facilitating connectivity between base stations and Points of Presence. Lightweight (2.5kg) and small, with a low profile, Sub10’s Ethernet links support high data rates and carrier class availability.
Low Cost Leased Line Replacement Completely replace leased lines at a fraction of the total cost of ownership. No wires, no cables, no digging and no yearly costs.
LAN Extension up to 1km Securely extend networks to multiple office buildings without disruption or unnecessary cost.
3G, 4G, Mobile, Internet or transport of HD CCTV Sub10 products can be used to securely transmit data anywhere physical circuits, such as fibre optic cables are impractical or costly.
Path Redundancy Sub10’s products are often used as redundancy for Free Space Optics (FSO), where building subsidence, dirt and other environmental factors require robust back-up systems.
Permanent or Temporary Plug and play installation means both temporary and permanent connections can be set up quickly and cost-effectively.
Benefits
Over 60% Smaller & Lighter Than Competitors Sub10’s wireless Ethernet link is over 60% smaller than competing products. At just 2.5kg, Sub10’s outdoor unit can be easily and inconspicuously mounted on a variety of structures.
Robust: New York Subway Used on the New York subway since 2006 in dirty, dusty, extreme underground environments, Sub10 wireless bridges relay service critical information to train operators.
Fast: Abu Dhabi Grand Prix At up to 1Gb per second, Sub10 wireless bridges reliably handles massive quantities of mission-critical data including live TV broadcast at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2010.
Plug and Play Sub10 wireless bridges are easy to install and maintain. A temporary installation at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2010 took just 2 hours.
Secure Sub10’s proprietary radio means data is exceptionally secure and extremely difficult to decode.
License Exempt or Lightly Licensed In over 22 countries including the USA, China, UK, Germany, Japan, UAE, Australia and New Zealand 60GHz is either lightly licensed or license exempt.
