A Level curriculum reform

A level qualifications are progressively moving to a linear format (i.e. examinations at end of two years, not modular)

A level and AS level exams are being de-coupled so that each is taken independently of the other

Content overlap between AS and A2 Success in AS will be linked to A2 entry and

course completion

Assessment (summer only) will normally be by examination only, except in subjects where other methods are appropriate, such as History, PE, Design or Computer Science.

The new A and AS levels will continue to be graded from A to E, with an additional A* grade available at A level only.
