    Information on Streamlined

    Visa Processing (SVP)What is Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP)?

    Murdoch participates in Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP). Thismeans that Murdoch assesses whether each student visa applicantis a Genuine Students (GS) and Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE)(http://www.immi.gov.au/students/_pdf/2011-genuine-temporary-entrant.pdf ). As part of this process, Murdoch looks at an applicants

    English language capability, financial resources and previous study.

    If Murdoch subsequently issues a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)then the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC)

    automatically treats the applicant as a low migration risk.

    What are the benefits of

    Streamlined Visa Processing?

    SVP helps international students by:

    a) Reducing the documentation they have to show DIAC when applyfor a Visa; and

    b) Reducing the length of time it takes for visa applications to be

    processed by DIAC.

    What courses are eligible for SVP?

    Honours programs;

    Bachelor Degrees;

    Masters degrees by Coursework;

    Research Higher degrees;

    Semester or year-long Study Abroad or Exchange programs

    Diploma Packaged programs

    English Packaged programs

    Foundation/Certicate packaged programs

    What courses are NOT eligible for SVP?

    Postgraduate Certicates (unless packaged with aneligible program)

    Postgraduate Diplomas (unless packaged with aneligible program)

    AusAID recipients

    The SVP arrangements place greater responsibility on the MurdochInternational Admissions to assess applicants intentions as genuinestudents (GS) and genuine temporary entrants (GTE) to Australia.The University now also bears greater responsibility for its studentscompliance with the conditions of their Student Visa.

    Visa cancellations for unsatisfactory course progress, failure to payfees, non-commencement, transfer to another provider and forbreaches of work rights directly affect Murdochs risk rating forparticipation in the SVP arrangements. Murdoch is also affected byvisa refusals for applicants with the Murdoch University CoEs.

    In response to this increased responsibility, Murdoch has developed

    an internal assessment process to manage the risk posed byapplicants from different countries. Murdoch has therefore,introduced an Agent SVP Assessment and Declaration Form andAgent CoE Request Form.

    Agent SVP Assessment and Declaration Form nolonger required

    Kindly note that in a bid to reduce the number of forms that ourstudents and agents fill in, we have decided to incorporate the SVPAssessment and Declaration Form into the NEW Murdoch UniversityUndergraduate and Graduate Coursework Application Form. TheSVP questions about English, courses, visa and financial informationis to assist in bringing about awareness of the GTE/GS criteria. Thequestions aim to:

    a) minimise visa refusals and cancellations and assist us to identifygenuine students who plan to stay in Australia temporarily and

    abide by the conditions of their student visa.b) keep students informed, aware and more prepared when applying

    for their student visa and their obligations as international studentsin Australia on a student visa.

    By counselling students on the topics presented on the applicationform and signing the declaration on the form, you will be greatlyassisting the International Admissions Team in identifying genuineapplications and ensuring that the students you recruit in the futurecontinue to benefit from the accelerated visa process.

    To enable the admissions team to process your application as quicklyas possible, you will be required to submit the following:

    A complete MU application form (All questions answered)

    Certied copies of all necessary documents?

    Certied English translations of documents not in English Certied copies of your English language prociency (if applicable)

    A copy of your CV (if applicable)

    Certied copy of your passport (Bio data page) or ID

    A copy of your personal statement (if applicable)

    Please note that you are required to sight originals before certifyingdocuments and also please DO NOT fill in the application form on behalfof the student.

    Agent CoE Request Form

    This form will be submitted when the student is accepting theirMurdoch University offer letter. Please note that students fromlevel 3 and 4 countries will be required to fill in the AdditionalRequirements for Level 3 and 4 applicants on page 2 of the Agent

    CoE Request Form. Please go to the following website for moreinformation on country levels: http://www.immi.gov.au/students/student-visa-assessment-levels.htm

    By signing the declaration, you are confirming that to the best ofyour knowledge:

    The student has access to enough funds to support themself andany accompanying dependents during their studies at MurdochUniversity(this includes funds to cover tuition costs, Overseasstudent Health Cover, return airfares and living expenses);

    The main reason the student is coming to Australia is to study;

    The student will adhere to the conditions of their Visa; and

    The student has the required English level

    The above process applies whether the student is self-funded or

    sponsored.
