HISTORY OF FINLAND
1155 The first missionaries arrive in Finland from Sweden and Finland becomes part of the Swedish realm.
1809 Sweden loses Finland to Russia, Finland becomes an autonomous Grand Duchy of the Russian Empire.

1917 Finland declares independence from Russia on December 6 and becomes a republic.
