hub of region. Originally the port of Babylonia. Centre of ancient astrology. Home of the moon

god Nanna (Sin) – the other Haran. Had temple sacred to the moon goddess Urki. A burial city – full of tombs. The dead were

brought to Ur from all over Mesopotamia. Chaldees - kasdiymah – “clod-breakers”. The

Kasdim, Cardi, Kurds, or Chaldees are generally supposed to be Shemites.

A People for the Name - Acts 15:14

God appeared to both Abram and Cornelius. They were both given instructions requiring a

decision, action and travel. Both needed to leave behind their nativity. Both became associated with “the Name”

(Shem – Melchizedek and Christ). Cornelius and his house (Japheth) received the

blessing of ‘dwelling in the tents of Shem’.

foundations, 12 apostles, 12 stones. The number 12 occurs 12 times (if 144 = 12 x 12

is counted as 2 – V.17). This city is a corporation of immortal people –

the Israel of God in its final manifestation.

“It is the Yahweh-Elohistic municipality, symbolized by one hundred and forty-four cubits, each cubit representing one thousand of the numerical symbol of this “Holy Nation,” the Israel of the Deity.”
