The Injection creates a symbiotic relationship between the original structure and the newly introduced system that holds the sliced halves in tension. The Worm visually represents a source of infection to the otherwise pure Cube.

By providing a continuous route from the entry and into both theaters, the Worm connects people with music through a poetic spatial se-quence: unity through division.

Seaside View

Living Unit

The proposed remodel brings together the community of Port Tonic to exploit a blending between the art and the artist. Along the hill slope, an avant-garde extru-sion wraps around the existing structure. Red 40, a parasitic form, intrigues one to follow its path and navigate throughout the spacious double floor art exhibitions.

The contrast between the existing struc-tural shell and the inorganic red ex-trusion create a suspenseful defini-tion of passage in which accents of red compliment the subtle concrete.

RED 40 SUMMER 20132013 Study Abroad w/ DIANA RODRIGUEZ

The simplicity of the color red hints at the circulation path throughout the art gallery with a dramatic outdoor staircase. Approaching the roof of the art gallery, one is exposed to the expansive views of the Mediterranean Sea enclosed by Port Tonic. The red steel prompts one to interact with the surroundings as it forms a canopy over the rooftop terrace.

The conceptual drive involved using architecture to re-create the euphoric experience of music, while placing it in an industrial setting. The renders de-pict the importance and awe associated with a pink cloud eminating from the heart of the building. The section below explains how accoustics and gen-eral massing emphasize the wave-like nature of the building. Lastly, The model above describes how the program is not only presented in building form, but in the surroudning landscape as well [materials: rock maple and basswood]
