    Bridgestone Language Academy offers 3 program options for our students to advance at their pace:

    • Core program for 15 hours per week

    • Intensive program for 23 hours per week

    • Super Intensive program for 30 weekly hours

    Each of our ESL programs focusses on the development of language skills in speaking, listening, writing and reading to ensure a balance of accuracy and fluency. Our courses integrate grammatical structures and functions, guided conversations, pronunciation, speaking, listening, writing, reading, communication practice and vocabulary.

    This series offers interactive courses that helpstudents better communicate with confidence.Each course allows students to continue buildingverbal and non-verbal awareness and fluency,while acquiring the necessary listening skills tocommunicate more like native English speakers.

    Accent Reduction

    This course will help you to find your voice withoutlosing your identity. Being understood is very importantwhen speaking a second language. Learn the skills tomodify your accent and become a more confident andeffective communicator. Regular practice and the use ofrecording devices to check your progress will help youtowards your goal of sounding like a native Englishspeaker.

    English through Translation – Japan and Korea

    How better to relate to English than through the lens ofyour own language? English is such a complexlanguage that many times there is no better way toexplain it than through your first language. LearnEnglish vocabulary and common expressions byconverting the meaning and context of written andspoken communication from one language to another.Dramatic English

    Language is so much more than grammar andvocabulary, and drama is the perfect mediumfor exploring language and cultural roles. In thisunique course, you will explore the creative andexpressive side of the English language throughthe process of drama and performancetechniques.     Key Information

    Finding Fluency

    Finding Fluency is for those students who havemastered the basics of grammar andvocabulary, but are struggling to make the leapto oral fluency in English. Differences in accents,pitch and rhythm, and difficulties withpronunciation are often barriers tounderstanding. This course has been specificallydesigned to help you explain your ideas andopinions fluently.

  • This series offers small, interactive courses withindividualized feedback. These specialized courses providestudents with the basic concepts of grammar and socialpractice, as they focus on the most practical skills forworkplace and public communication.

    First Aid English

    This course will provide the knowledge and skills necessaryin an emergency to minimize pain and the consequences ofinjury or sudden illness until professional medical helparrives. We train you to understand the basics of first aid, tostay calm and in control in an emergency. Learn to cope withwhatever happens confidently in English.

    Pharmaceutical English

    In today's world, pharmacists are often the first point ofcontact between a patient and the medical profession,serving as authorities on drugs and their uses. With ourPharmaceutical English course, you will benefit from topquality learning and access to a wide range of realmaterials related to the pharmaceutical industry.

    Hospitality Professionals

    Using our expertise in the hospitality industry,Bridgestone provides a tailored course that is filled withpractical language exercises, useful hands-on activitiesand interesting conversations. Bridgestone’s IELTS Preparation course includes content for both the General and Academic IELTS test. This full-time course runs for 12 weeks, and has weekly intake, allowing students to enter the class at any time.

Bridgestone’s TOEIC preparation course will ensure that students gain the necessary language and test taking skills to achieve their desired scores. The courseprovides students with the skills necessary to copewith the pressures of college or university life:lecture note-taking and comprehension,referencing, paraphrasing, giving presentations,research, academic essay writing, debating anddiscussion. Students will be exposed to teachingmethodologies currently in use in Canada whichmay be different from those students are familiarwith in their own home country’s education system.

  • Our Golden Program is designed for maturestudents who never had time to learn English andwish to learn or brush up on their communicationskills, while enjoying the popular touristdestinations that Toronto has to offer.     Your Level and Assessment

    On your first day at Bridgestone Language Academy, youwill write a placement test and have an oral interview toaccurately assess your proficiency. You will then be placedin a class suitable for your level, from Beginner throughAdvanced. During your course, your progress is continuallyassessed through regular testing by your teachers. As youprogress, you will advance from level to level to ensure youare in the most suitable class. The length of the ESLProgram is flexible. There are six levels at BridgestoneLanguage Academy. Most students study 12, 24, 36, or 48weeks and then go on to take an International Englishexam, or enter a college or university.

    Free Weekly WorkshopsEvery week you will have the opportunity to participate in arange of free workshops designed to help you achieve yourlanguage and academic goals, or to increase your chancesof finding a suitable job while you are studying. You arewelcome to participate in any other our afterschoolprograms, such as:·

    Conversation Club: Come and practice your conversationskills with your school mates and one of ourInstructors. Open to students of all levels. See schedule fordays and times

    Pronunciation Workshop: Come and improve yourpronunciation! Communicate more clearly and becomemore confident speaking in English

    Accommodations and Airport ServicesComfortable and friendly accommodation is availablewith a host family or in a student residence. Thestudent residence is located at CCMN and The TorontoPlaza Hotel, which offers offers clean, comfortableaccommodation suitable for students who wish to livemore independently.Homestay accommodation enables you to live with afamily in their home. Choosing to live in homestaymeans you will speak English all the time, and thehost families are prepared to assist internationalstudents with:• The basics of Canadian culture• Setting up a bank account• Getting a cellular phone• Helpful shopping tips• Personal safety advice• Being shown around the community• Learning how to buy public transport tickets/ metro-passIf you would like to arrange homestay or stay at one ofour residences, please advise at the time of enquiry,or at least 4 weeks before arrival to Toronto, Ontario,Canada.

    Apart from our accommodation options, we also offeran airport pick-up service, providing you withtransportation from Toronto Pearson Airport directly toyour accommodation. We can also arrange transferback to the airport at the end of your stay. For yourpeace of mind, all our drivers carry identification andhave experience working with international students.You will receive all the information necessary forairport pick-up, if required, and a complete profilewith rules, photos, location and transport details forboth residence and homestay accommodation.

    Medical InsuranceIt is mandatory for all students to have their ownhealth care insurance policies with enough coverageto last the full duration of their stay in Canada.However, in the event that they do not, Bridgestonewill assist in making the necessary arrangements.Medical insurance is available at a reasonable cost. Allinternational students must show proof of medicalinsurance on their first day.

    Public TransportationThe Toronto Transit Commission, or TTC, isresponsible for providing public transport in the City ofToronto. The TTC is the quick, convenient and safe wayto get around Toronto. The subway system is linkedwith buses and streetcars to get you where you needto go easily and quickly. Daily fares can be purchasedat any booth.

    A monthly metro pass will allow you to use publictransportation without limitations.
