News from the Principal

Recently at the Governing Council meeting I raised the exciting news about some major facilities upgrades which are currently at the costing stage The COLA (covered outdoor learning area) has been engineered and will be sent to tender before the end of the school term This facility will provide some exciting opportunities for student learning and social gatherings where we can develop skills and make new relationships This facility will also provide curriculum opportunities and a space to host outdoor assemblies and ceremonies The triple portable

will also undergo a major facelift by repairing all exterior damage then repainting this building the same colours as the rest of the school Interior toilets will also undergo a facelift with small repairs being completed before internal painting can commence to all toilet facilities (excluding Foyer B) I am also delighted to inform community that we recently purchased 165 iPads for staff and students This purchase will allow students to access the internet and research projects whilst using apps that support a variety of curriculum areas

A huge thank you to Miss Smith and her helpers for their persistence in ensuring that the iPads were ready and working before purchasing such a large amount of units These items will be in operation by term 3 with all going well Please ensure students are well covered during the winter months The weather recently has been extremely cold especially in the mornings Bryan Rotherham Principal

Whatrsquos Happening in Room 11

In Room 11 we have been learning about Mr Squiggle We watched a couple of episodes and really enjoyed how he transformed lines and shapes into drawings

As we enjoyed this we wanted to try and make our own artwork during visual arts that are based on Mr Squiggle designs

The students also became interested in how Mr Squiggle moved so as a class we decided to create our own marionettes

using boxes and string by utilising our new STEM space We then had to write up the procedure on how we made our puppets during literacy
