T16-32005 coop.concordia.ca MCCORD MUSEUM FOUNDATION ASSISTANT TO DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR Montreal, QC, Canada Shany Engelhardt ART HISTORY EXPERIENTIAL GROWTH • Gained confidence working in an office environment • Learned how to take initiative and share ideas during group projects • Learned how to communicate professionally in-person, over the phone and by e-mail • Developed an understanding of administration side of non- profit organizations • Learned how to balance academic and professional responsibilities BENEFITS OF CO-OP • Mentored a junior student as part of the Co-op Mentorship Program • Experiencing many facets of the non-profit sector in order to determine the type of career I wish to pursue • Forging professional contacts and relationships • Gaining practical experience and learning about the realities of the art industry • Support Co-op gives both during the placement process and throughout the internship • Provides a competitive edge when all future employers expect a level of experience from their new employees • Updated and maintained a database • Assembled thank you letters and tax receipts • Performed administrative work for the entire department • Conducted research assignments to ensure the Foundation effectively connects with the public • Translated letters and documents from French to English SEGAL CENTRE FOR PERFORMING ARTS DEVELOPMENT INTERN Montreal, QC, Canada • Organized and executed gala’s silent auction • Created thank you booklet in collaboration with a graphic designer • Coordinated with the financial department to produce tax receipts • Processed and deposited transactions while keeping detailed accounting records for a musical fundraiser BLACK THEATRE WORKSHOP MARKETING ASSISTANT Montreal, QC, Canada • Planned and executed an event celebrating the theatre company’s 45th birthday • Solicited donations and sponsorships for annual Vision Gala Celebration • Recorded interviews of founding members and then edited the videos • Updated and maintained database, website and social media presence • Launched fall membership campaign
