RU-1st Paul Robeson Summer
Institute was a huge success!
39 students of the incoming SSS Class of
2020 participated in the inaugural Paul
Robeson Summer Institute, a 3-week
residential component that included
classroom instruction, leadership workshops,
career planning, engaging with distinguished
Rutgers faculty, staff and alumni.
Each year SSS awards aid to eligible students based on academic standing, participation, and financial need.
Eligibility and Requirements
A current, matriculating Rutgers University student.
At least a cumulative 2.30 GPA or better or a minimum 2.5 term GPA from the prior semester.
Must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant for the current academic year.
Student must have 53 or fewer credits by the beginning of the most recent Fall term (September 1st).
Note: Students with more than 54 credits may apply if they have extenuating financial circumstances.

Announced by Chancellor Richard L. Edwards in Fall
2015, RU-1st Initiatives focus on increasing student
persistence and graduation rates, aimed at first-

Peer Support Group Coming to college represents social mobility; it’s fundamentally about improving your lives. At the same time you value where you come from. The First Generation Peer Support Group provides the space in which students can talk about the challenge of being
true to who they are while trying to successfully navigate the system of higher education. "By sharing our struggles with each other we are better able to affirm and draw strengths from where we come from in order to achieve our goals.
