    LUNCH/RECESS SUPERVISION

    &uring lunchrecess students are supervised y a lunch aide. (ach classroom is assigned one

    lunch aide that meets the students in their respective classroom and escorts them to either the

    multipurpose room to eat or the playground for recess.

    &uring inclement weather days all students in grades +-; remain in their classrooms for recess

    and are directly supervised y their lunch aide.

    Students can uy their lunch from 0hartwells, the food company or ring their lunch to school.

    enus are sent home and posted on the wesite.

    LUNCH

    All lunches 1hot and cold3 cost $2.!. $ndividual snacks and drinks can e purchased. School

    lunch is ordered a day in advance during the morning exercises in the student)s respectivehomeroom. $t)s important for students to rememer what they ordered for lunch. Students

    will e given a card indicating the numer of lunches purchased. "he lunch aides and

    teachers will serve as the custodians of the cards 1so that the students will not lose them3 andwill give them to the students when they are purchasing their lunches. "he lunch servers will

    utili#e an electronic computer program which will indicate the numer of lunches used and

    any remaining alance.

    PLAYGROUND RULES-The playground is open at the end of the day for walkers/car riders to enjoy. Direct

    parent supervision is required in order for children to play on the equipment.

    -Parents should hold their childrens ackpacks while they are on the equipment to help

    children maintain their alance while playing.

    !hildren must follow all safety rules on the playground and wait their turn.

    The playground is reserved for gym/lunch/recess during the day. "indergarten

    students may not use the playground equipment when children from recess are using

    the equipment.

    8or various reasons the administration place the school in one of three lockdown operationmodes. A lockdown is when all teachers and staff in the school lock themselves and their

    students into their classrooms. 9et, the circumstances responsile for such a decision will dictate

    the following types of lockdown procedures that will need to e employed*

    4eneral Lockdown* $n a situation where there is no direct threat to the safety of the

    students and staff either in the uilding or outside of the uilding, ut there is thelikelihood of danger, this type of lockdown will e performed.

    Lockdown $nside* $n a situation where there is a threat to the safety of students and staff

    inside the uilding.

    Lock down 'utside* $n a situation where there is a threat to the safety of students and

    staff from the outside of the uilding.

    FIRE &RILL

    $n the event of a fire or fire drill students and staff calmly evacuate according to the fire drill

    evacuation procedures and maps posted in each classroom next to the door 15o student or staff

    memers are permitted to stop or return to the classroom to get any personal items, including

    coats and !ackets3.

    EVACUATION

    $n the event of a)y *risisot+,r t+a) a fir,, where it is determined that the uilding is no longer

    the safest environment for the students, we will employ the following procedures to evacuate the

    school* Students and staff will e evacuated according to school procedures. 5otification as towhen to evacuate will e communicated via intercom, (mail, or messenger.

    TE"PORAR HEALTH ISSUES/CONCERNS

    %arents of students with short term medical or health issues must directly notify the school

    verally or in writing of such, particularly if the concern will exclude the student from anyactivity in school. 8urthermore, if the parent wishes to exclude their child from school related

    activities due to a short term or pervasive medical concern, it must also e supported with recent

    and credile documentation y a physician.

    PARENT CUSTO& ISSUES

    $n the case of students with divorced or separated parents, the primary custodian of the childmust e documented and presented to the school as soon as such a determination has een made

    y the court. As such, no student will e dismissed to a non custodial parent without written or

    veral permission y the parent custodian indicated in the aforementioned documentation. $n the

    case of equal or split custody, either custodial parent will e permitted to dismiss the student.5evertheless, the school will notify the other custodial parent as a courtesy in no advance notice

    was presented prior to dismissal. 8inally, upon request, and unless there exists legal restraints

    against such, the non-custodial parent will e provided access to all student records and schoolrelated activities.

    CO-CURRICULAR &IS"ISSAL SPORTS/CLUS0

    Students participating in co-curricular activities after school are dismissed directly from the

    teacher coordinator to the parents. Asolutely no children are permitted to leave school after such

    functions y themselves without eing accompanied y an adult, unless they are a walker and thecoordinator and or school received permission from the parent or guardian. "eacher coordinators

    are not permitted to leave the school until the last student is picked up y the parentguardian oran adult designated and confirmed y the parent guardian.

    PIC%IN# UP STU&ENTS

    5o person will e permitted to pick up or dismiss a child that they are legally not responsile for

    unless the school is given direct veral or written permission or notification y the student)s legal

    custodial guardian or parent. 5otes should e written to the teacher if there is a change in thepick-up routine for the day.

    students line up in their designated playground area according to their grade level. Several

    teachers, as well as safety patrols, are stationed out on the playground to supervise the childrenfor the duration of the aforementioned arrival time. 'n days when the weather is inclement or

    when the temperature is elow ?; degrees, all students will enter through the main entrance and

    line up in the hallway outside their classroom doors. &uring the months of 7anuary and

    8eruary, the students will come inside each day at =*D; A. "hey are expected to have a ookin their ook ag and read silently outside their classroom.

    Students arriving from a us are dropped off on the sidewalk in the driveway in front of theschool. All students are escorted to the playground to line up y the us safety patrol. Students

    that are driven to school y their parents are let out in the designated drop off #one on the same

    side as the school on 2rookville /d 1yellow cur3. Students should exit the passenger side onlyat the end of the pick-up #one. $n order to keep the flow of traffic, parents should )otexit the

    "o protect the students who are walking to and from school, the main and overflow parking lots

    are closed during arrival 1=*?@->*@@ A3 and dismissal 1?*?@-D*@@ %3 time. Since oth lots are

    coned off, if parents are parked in either lot during the aforementioned times, they must waituntil the lots reopen.It is suggested that you park your car on either Idlewild Road or Ashley

    Road and walk your child to and from school.

    NURSE?S OFFICE

    "he school nurse operates the health clinic. As well as handling all school medical emergenciesand health concerns, she administers medications, manages all required medical paperwork, and

    disseminates health information to students, staff and parents. She also teaches the H4rowing

    IpJ program to Dthgrade students and presents mini lessons to students in other grade levels.
