    02 Teaching AreaIn the TEACHING AREA you can launch two MyElaN training tools: WEBCLASS and SCRIBBLPRO.

    ScribblPro » is a supporting webtool for your language training. You can make additional online exercises here. ScribblPro is available in English, French, German and Dutch.

    WebClass » is an online tool you use to participate in live online training sessions. It gives you access to a virtual classroom where you can meet your webcoach. You will have to use this tool when you sign up for a BabblPro or MX Pro training course.

    Reminder:BabblPro » is face-to-face language training, but entirely online. ClassicPro » is face-to-face language training, in your company or in our offices. MX Pro » is the combination of ClassicPro and BabblPro lessons.

    In the text under HOW DOES IT WORK, you can see a few items marked in green:

    01 DEMO FILMS » here you will find films about the working of the virtual classroom.02 PERFORM A TECHNICAL CHECK-UP » here you will find a test to check the working of your webcam and microphone before entering the virtual classroom.03 PARK & COLLECT » this is a shortcut to the Park & Collect section where you can exchange documents with your teacher (see section 6.2).

    You can find an overview of the most commonly asked questions about MyElaN (FAQ) under the heading INFO in the upper right corner. In order to start WebClass or ScribblPro simply click on the orange button LAUNCH below the text.

    02 Teaching AreaImportant!

    The first time you start BabblPro, please perform a technical check-up of your system’s resources. This series of tests ensures that your system meets the basic technical and Internet connection requirements to successfully follow an online class. To do so, please click on PLEASE PERFORM A TECHNICAL CHECK-UP.

    The next screen will then guide you through the check-up.

    When you are done, please close the web browser.

    03 WebClassBabblPro is face-to-face language training, but entirely online. Lessons take place via the WebClass tool in the MyElaN online classroom.It is important that you have Flash installed on your PC otherwise the WebClass tool will not work.

    3.1 Entering the virtual classroomEnter the virtual classroom a few minutes before the start of your session. There are two options to enter the classroom.

    01 Click on the word WEBCLASS under the heading TEACHING AREA on the left. 02 In the Teaching Area, click on the orange button LAUNCH under the WEBCLASS logo.

    You will be taken to the classroom.

    03 WebClassNext, you will see the pop-up below. Allow the system to broadcast audio and video by selecting ALLOW and next close the pop-up. Allowing will bring no harm to your computer.

    If you have not done so yet, check your device set-tings and save them by clicking on SAVE SETTINGS.

    You are now ready to have your session!

    If you visit the classroom before your coach has scheduled a session, you will get the following notification: ‘You have no class at the moment. Please come back later.’

    If you want to know how long before the start of your next scheduled session, access the classroom in the way described above.

    03 WebClass3.2 Uploading documents into the virtual classroomAs a student, you can upload documents directly from your PC into the virtual classroom.

    • Open the classroom.• Click on the icon UPLOAD FROM DESKTOP.• Select the exercise you want to upload.• The exercise will be uploaded into the classroom.

    Nearly all file types (txt jpg jpeg gif png mp4 webm pdf doc docx csv xls xlsx swf flv ppt pptx pps ppsx mov avi mpeg wmv wav wma mp3) can be uploaded.

    04 ScribblProScribblPro are additional online exercises which you can make in your own time. Convenient and easy to use.

    4.1 Using ScribblProThere are two options to enter the classroom.

    01 Click on the word SCRIBBLPRO under the heading TEACHING AREA on the left. 02 In the Teaching Area, click on the orange button LAUNCH under the SCRIBBLPRO logo.

    You will be taken to the homepage of ScribblPro, where you will see a list of all the modules you have regis-tered (or the modules belonging to a product you have registered):

    04 ScribblProProceed by selecting the module of your choice. For example FRANÇAIS - ECRIRE.

    The table of contents of the module you have selected can now be found in the left-side window. In this case, you will find folders with exercises (LES OUTILS and LES DOCUMENTS).

    04 ScribblProBy clicking on the button EXERCISES, you can select an exercise within a folder.

    01 Each folder in the module’s table of contents is preceded by a + sign. If you click on it, the folder will open and the sub folders will appear. Continue clicking on the + signs until the exercises appear. Open folders are preceded by a - (minus) sign; you can close the folder by clicking on that sign.

    02 To make the window with the table of contents broader or smaller, simply click on the dividing line (the separator bar) between the left and the right frames and then move the mouse to the right or to the left. The separator bar is indicated at the top of the window by a vertical line running between the table of contents and the tab pages. Alternatively, click on that line and drag to adjust the width of the table of contents.

    03 You can open an exercise by clicking on its title. The exercise will promptly appear in the right-side window and you can start working in it.

    04 If you see an exercise with a check mark (✓) against it, it means you have done it already. An exercise with an exclamation mark (!) against it is one you have worked on previously, but you have not completed it yet.

    05 ScreeningA screening consist of three parts:

    01 A Needs Analysis02 A written test (LinguaTest)03 An oral test (Screening Interview)

    To access the screening page, click on SCREENING in the menu on the left. The page below will open:

    In the screening area you will find an overview of the steps to take to complete your screening.

    On the left you will see all general information (language, location, date, etc. concerning your language training).

    On the right you will find instructions that will guide you through the first two steps of the screening process: filling out a Needs Analysis and doing the LinguaTest.

    Read the information and proceed by clicking on LAUNCH ANALYSIS & LINGUATEST.

    The screen below will open:

    Fill out the form and click on NEXT PAGE.Fill out all questions and click on NEXT PAGE.On the last page (4 of 4) click on SUBMIT QUESTIONNAIRE. You will be taken to the LinguaTest.

    05 Screening5.2 Filling out the LinguaTestClick on LINGUATEST to start the language test or close your browser if you wish to take the LinguaTest at a later stage. Next time you log in, you will be directed to the test immediately.

    Below is your start screen. You may need to allow a pop-up window for the LinguaTest.

    When you are done, you will see your score and an indication of your proficiency level. Do not forget to click on the red button to close the LinguaTest.

    05 Screening5.3 The Screening InterviewOur screener will take a look at your results and will contact you soon by email or phone to pencil in your Screening Interview either face-to-face, over the phone or via BabblPro.

    The Screening Interview is a 15-minute talk in which the screener will ask some questions in the target language which you try to answer to the best of your knowledge. This will help us to assess your active knowledge of the target language/the language you want to study.

    For your Screening Interview you need to enter the virtual classroom (via WEBCLASS). Go to the SCREENING area and click on LAUNCH SCREENING INTERVIEW. For further information, please go back to section 3.

    06 TrainingThe TRAINING Area provides you with all information on your training.

    Under the heading STUDENT INFO you will find: • feedback from the coach regarding your screening (FEEDBACK SCREENING)• info on the training of your choice (TRAINING)• info on your coach and the possibility to contact him/her• info on your ElaN contact and the possibility to contact him/her• info on your fellow students (FELLOW STUDENTS) and the possibility to contact them

    When you click the course description (next to Student Info), a dropdown will appear allowing you to switch between the different courses you are enrolled in.

    Under the heading STUDENT OBJECTIVES you will find:

    • the objectives for your language training as determined by your coach and yourself/your employer

    Under the heading SCHEDULED you will find:

    • the number of f2f-sessions you have scheduled in the (near) future• the number of upcoming web sessions you have scheduled in the (near) future

    06 Training6.1 AgendaThe option Agenda allows you to oversee your scheduled sessions per formula (BabblPro or ClassicPro).

    When you click the chosen formula, a dropdown will appear. You can switch between consulting your SCHEDULED WEBSESSIONS and consulting your SCHEDULED FACE-TO-FACE SESSIONS.

    Sessions are scheduled by mail or MESSAGES (see section 6.4).

    06 Training6.2 Park & CollectThe PARK & COLLECT enables you to exchange documents with your coach. The coach can place documents in the Park & Collect and you can collect them. On your turn, you can also upload documents in the Part & Collect. This feature is especially useful for homework purposes.

    The following file types can be uploaded: txt jpg jpeg gif png mp4 webm pdf doc docx csv xls xlsx swf flv ppt pptx pps ppsx mov avi mpeg wmv wav wma mp3.

    To upload a document simply click on the orange button UPLOAD DOCUMENT.

    01 Next fill out the compulsory fields PROJECT NUMBER and TITLE.02 Browse and select the document of your choice.03 Click on the orange button UPLOAD. 04 Click on the orange button SAVE to confirm.

    To make an evaluation, click on EVALUATIONS in the menu on the left. The screen below will open:

    06 Training6.4 MessagesIn the MESSAGES area you can find your personal message service. You can easily communicate with your coach(es) and fellow student(s) as well as with your personal contact at ElaN Languages.

    6.4.1 Reading your messagesTo read your messages, click on MESSAGES in the menu on the left. The screen below will open:

    Next click on the title of the message you want to read. You can find the title underscored under the heading SUBJECT. The message will open and you can REPLY.

    06 Training6.5 Follow-upThe FOLLOW-UP page enables you to keep in touch with ElaN Languages.

    After all, you have worked very hard during your language training and you want to keep using and building your knowledge. Together with your coach, you set a number of long-term objectives which you reach via a number of sessions, planned over a longer period of time.

    ClassicPro, Mx Pro, BabblPro or ScribblPro, all formulas are possible.
