Group A (i)

English, History, Philosophy 2

Group A (ii)

Croatian, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian (Each language department offers culture courses, taught in English, that can also fulfill this requirement)

Classical Studies, Drama, Fine Arts, Music, Religious Studies, Speech Communication

2 (from group Ai, Aii, or Aiii

Group B Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology(no more than 2 per subject)

For all Arts students

• The English Language Proficiency Program is designed to ensure that students have the necessary writing skills for academic success.

English Language Proficiency Exam

• The English Language Proficiency Examination (ELPE) requires students to write a 300-500 word impromptu essay in 50 minutes. Students are respond to topical issues. Tip: How well students write is much more important than how much they write.

Arts: Grade: 65 to passTime Requirement: must write ELPE by end of 1A; must pass it by end of 2B

This session is for ARTS students who have less than 80% in E4U. 

ARTS students who have 80% or higher in E4U write in December. ARTS transfer students and ARTS out-of province students should also write in December.

• As a student academics are now your responsibility• You’ll be treated like adults and are responsible for making

decisions about your academic career and managing your workload

• You'll make decisions about your major, minors and options
