    1. Introduction

The jet pumps are in usebecause of its Simplicity of itsconcept for imparting energy to

    a fluid stream.

    Being successfully used in

    remote environments for manyindustrial applications

    Jet Pump

eductor A high pressure, high velocity jet discharge is

used to pump a larger volume of fluid.

    Advantages

    no moving parts

    self priming

    handles solids easily

    Disadvantage

    inefficient

    Uses

    1. Introduction

The jet pumps consists of followingparts :

    NozzleA Suction box

    A Mixing Tube (Throat)

    A diffuser on downstream side

    2. Classification of Jet-pumps

There are four basic forms of jet pump:

    Gas-Gas.Liquid-Liquid.Gas-Liquid.

    Liquid-Gas.

Note: The first mentioned fluid above in each caseis used to drive the pump

    3. Principle of operation

The operation of jet pump can be

    separated into the following zones:

    Acceleration of the Driving &

    Induced flows.

Mixing of the two fluids (Primary &Secondary)

The decrease in velocity in thediffuser (Which converts KineticEnergy to Potential Energy)

    5. Adjustable Nozzle

    By providing a needle valve for thenozzle (Fig.6 & Fig.7) the nozzle/throat

ratio can be varied and, in this way, the

operating range of the jet pump (or jet-centrifugal combination) can be

    increased. The needle valve adjustment

can be made either manually as shown in

    Fig.6 or automatically
