• MPShasa24hourexclusionruleforvomiting,diarrhea,orafevergreaterthan100degrees.Therefore,studentsshouldnotreturntoschooluntil24hoursfromthelastepisodeofvomiting,diarrheaoruntilthefeverhasreturnedtonormalfor24hourswithouttheuseofmedication.
• Immunizations/Shots:EachstudentmustshowproofofcurrentstatusorhavecopiesonfileintheHealthOfficepriortothestartofschool.StudentswhohavemedicalresonsfornotbeingimmunizedmusthavethephysiciansignaformavailablefromtheHealthOffice.Thosestudentswithaconscientiousobjectionmusthaveanotarizedformonfile.Therewillbenoexceptiontothisstatelaw.
• Elevator:OnlystudentswithmedicalneedsverifiedbytheHealthOfficemayusetheelevator.
AttendanceMattersAtWashburn,weexpect students toattendschooleveryday.Current researchshows that thereisadirectcorrelationbetweenstudentattendanceandstudentachievement.Ifstudentsaretobesuccessful,theymustattendschoolatleast95%ofthetime.Thisiswhytheschooldistrictstronglysuggestsparentsplanappointmentsandvacationswhenschoolisnotinsession.ReportingAbsencesWhenastudent'sabsenceisunavoidable,theparent/guardianshouldtelephonetheattendanceline(668-3429)between7:00a.m.and10a.monthedaythestudentisabsent.Ifatelephonecallisnotpossible,thestudentmustpresentanotetotheattendanceofficewhenshe/hereturnstoschool.Thenotemustinclude:1.Reasonfortheabsence2.Exactdatesandtimesoftheabsence3.Student'sIDnumber

We remind students that the following types of dress may place them (and others around them) at risk for a confrontation orviolencesincetheymaybeinterpretedasgangreferences.DancesDancesareaprivilegeatWashburn.Wereservetherighttorefusethesaleofdanceticketsleadinguptotheevent.Thiscouldbebasedonbehaviorandattendance**InordertoattenddancesstudentsmustbeingoodstandingasdeterminedbytheDeans/Administrators.Thefollowingarerulesandexpectationsforalldances:
• Everystudentwillbephysicallyscreened-patteddown,bagssearched,etc.-asshe/heentersthedancevenue.Illegalitemsfoundwillbeconfiscatedandmayserveasgroundsforexclusionfromthedance
• Abreathalyzerwillbeusedonstudentsrandomlyorincaseswhensecuritysuspectsthatastudentmayhaveconsumedalcohol.Anystudentwhotestspositiveforalcoholwillbecitedbythepoliceondutyandsenthomedirectlyuponcontactwiththestudents’parents.Thestudentwillalsobeblockedorineligibletoattendanynextscheduleddanceoftheyear

I. Purpose:Thepurposeofthispolicyistomaintainasafelearningenvironmentforstudentsandstaffthatisfreefrombullyingandhazing.TheDistrictcannotmonitortheactivitiesofstudentsatalltimesandeliminateallincidentsofbullyingbetweenstudentsorhazing,particularlywhenstudentsarenotunderthedirectsupervisionofschoolpersonnel.However,totheextentsuchconductaffectstheeducationalenvironmentoftheDistrict’sschoolsandtherightsandwelfareofitsstudentsandiswithinthecontroloftheDistrictinitsnormaloperations,itistheDistrict’sintenttopreventbullyingand/orhazing.ItisalsotheDistrict’sintenttotakeactiontoinvestigate,respondto,remediate,anddisciplinethoseactsofbullyingandhazingwhichhavenotbeensuccessfullyprevented.
II. GeneralStatementofPolicy:Bullyingorhazingactivitiesofanytimeareinconsistentwiththeeducationalgoalsoftheschooldistrictandareprohibitedatalltimes.ThispolicyappliestoanystudentwhoseconductatanytimeorinanyplaceconstitutesbullyingthatinterfereswithorobstructsthemissionoroperationsoftheDistrictorthesafetyorwelfareofthestudent,otherstudentsoremployeesoftheDistrict.Thispolicyappliestothemisuseoftechnologyincluding,butnotlimitedtoconductthatis:
a) Teasing,b) Intimidating,c) Defaming,d) Threatening,ore) Terrorizing.
ThisPolicyappliestoanymisuseoftechnologythatisbullyingorhazingbehaviorregardlessofwhethersuchactsarecommittedonoroffDistrictpropertyand/orwithorwithouttheuseofschooldistrictresources.
Nostudent,employeeorotherpersonneloftheDistrictshallplan,direct,encourage,aidorengageinbullyingand/orhazing.NoemployeeorotherpersonneloftheDistrictshallpermit,condoneortoleratebullyingand/orhazing.Apparentpermissionorconsent

byapersonbeinghazeddoesnotlessontheprohibitionscontainedinthispolicy.Inthecaseofbehaviorthatconstituteshazingthispolicyappliestobehaviorthatoccursonoroffschoolpropertyandduringandafterschoolhours.Apersonwhoengagesinanactthatviolatesschoolpolicyorlawinordertobeinitiatedintooraffiliatedwithastudentorganizationshallbesubjecttodisciplineforthatact.Itshallbeaviolationofthispolicytoretaliateagainstanypersonwho:
1. Makesagoodfaithreportofallegedbullyingorhazing,2. Actsasawitnessinanyfactfindingorinvestigation3. Testifiesassistsorparticipatesinanyfact-findinginvestigation,hearingorproceeding.
Submissionofagoodfaithcomplaintorreportofbullyingorhazingwillnotaffectthecomplainantorreporter’sfutureemployment,grades,coursecreditacquisition,orworkassignments.Anystudentoremployeewhosuppliesinformationinacomplaintorinvestigationthatisdeterminedtohavebeenfalselyandmaliciouslysuppliedshallbesubjecttodiscipline.TheDistrictshallacttoinvestigateallcomplaintsofbullyingorhazing.TheDistrictshalldisciplineortakeappropriateactionagainstanystudent,employeeorotherpersonneloftheDistrictwhoisfoundtohaveviolatedthispolicy.Disciplineshallbeconsistentwiththerequirementsofapplicablecollectivebargainingagreements,applicablestatutoryauthority,includingtheMinnesotaPupilFairDismissalAct,schooldistrictpoliciesandregulations.

B. MPSiscommittedtoteachingallstudentsandtoassuringthatnostudent’sdisruptiveand/ordangerousbehaviorinterferes
withthelearningofothers.Thisisbestaccomplishedbypreventingmisbehaviorbeforeitoccursandusingeffectiveinterventionsafteritoccurs.TheMPScitywidedisciplinepolicyandproceduresarticulatethefollowingsetofvaluesandunbiasedexpectationstohelpmeettheseresponsibilitiesandtobalancethebestinterestsofeachMPSstudentwiththoseoftheschoolcommunityasawhole.1.
