SACS What is SACS and why is it important to me?

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) is one of six private, voluntary, non-profit regional accrediting associations in the United States. Its mission is to improve education in the South through accreditation. Accreditation by a recognized regional accrediting association (such as SACS) is required of higher education institutions in order for them to be eligible to receive federal funding. Without accreditation status, Roanoke-Chowan Community College would not be eligible to receive any federal funding (such as financial aid). R-CCC’s QEP Topic – “Get In the Game and S.C.O.R.E. – Student Collaboration: Opportunities for Reaching Excellence”.
