How to get to Prague
By plane
The Václav Havel Airport Prague (former Prague - Ruzyně Airport) -
50 regular airlines connect Prague directly to about 130
destinations around the world.
Prague airport is not far from the city centre and can be reached by
bus or taxi.

By bus: There is a number of companies (Eurolines, Student Agency, etc.) providing luxury, air-
conditioned buses. At present, you can travel to the Czech Republic by bus from practically any country in Europe.
By train: The Czech Republic Is well-connected with the European rail network with daily service to many European cities.

By car: The driver and all the passengers’ seatbelts must be fastened. Use of a mobile phone is not permitted while driving. There are highway vignettes in the Czech Republic. There is a zero tolerance for alcohol policy. For more information please click here.
Taxi: One of the safest and least expensive solutions is to order a
car through a taxi operator. The fares are usually much lower
compared to hailing a taxi in the street (the difference can be up
to 10 CZK / km).
Public Transport: Tickets for public transport tickets can be
bought at all metro stations and other locations. Basic tickets are
also available at the newsagent‘s (“trafika” or “tabák” in Czech),
info centres, ticket vending machines at selected tram and bus
stops.
The orange validation machines print the date and time on the ticket. From this time on the “validity
period” of the ticket begins.
The underground runs from 4-5 o´clock in the morning until the midnight (depending on line). At night
you can use night buses and trams which run every 20 minutes. For more information visit website

Public Transport in Prague for Students
Prague has a wide network of trams, buses and underground (the “metro”). For more details about public transport
please see this website. Here you can find information about the fares in Prague .
Ticket inspection is likely to occur and it is not worth take the risk – if a passenger fails to produce a valid, properly
stamped ticket, the fine can be up to 1500 CZK (approx. 55 EUR).
While studying at MUP you can get a long-term pass that is cheaper than buying the ticket every day. For long-term passes you will need a printed photography (35 x 45 mm).
Long-term passes for students (up to 26 years of age; study confirmation is required)
Long-term passes for adults:
30-day pass – 260 CZK 30-day pass – 550 CZK
90-day pass – 720 CZK 90-day pass – 1480 CZK
5-month pass – 1200 CZK 5-month pass – 2450 CZK
10-month pass – 2400 CZK 1-year pass – 3650 CZK
You will get the application form and confirmation of study for the long-term pass at the Orientation Day. Not before. So if you arrive earlier than to the Orientation Day, you have to buy the normal tickets.

How to get to the university MUP Main Building in Strašnice
Metropolitan University Prague Dubečská 900/10 100 31 Prague 10 – Strašnice
In order to get to the main building of MUP in Strašnice where the International Office, Student Services and MUP Library are located, take the green line of the metro (line A) to the Strašnická or Skalka station. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk to the university building from there. You may also take the tram no. 7 or 26 to Strašnická or tram no. 22 and 26 to the Radošovická stop. Many buses connect this area with different parts of the city.
All IRES courses are held in this building. The International Office is in room 309 on the 3rd floor.
Orientation Day is held here.
MUP Foreign Languages Centre in Jarov
Metropolitan University Prague Učňovská 100/1 190 00 Prague 9 – Jarov
MUP Foreign Languages Centre is situated at the final stop of tram no. 9 Spojovací. Tram line no. 9 runs via Václavské Náměstí (Wenceslas Square) stop (metro station Můstek, line A and B).
Anglophone Studies and Media Studies courses and all language courses (including Czech Language for Foreigners) are held in this building.
MUP Žižkov Building
Metropolitan University Prague Prokopova 100/16 130 00 Prague 3 – Žižkov
MUP Žižkov building can be easily accessed by bus no. 133, 175, 207 from Florenc (red metro line C) to the Tachovské náměstí stop or by bus no. 136 and 175 from Flora (green line A) to the Rokycanova stop. Or by tram no. 5, 9, and 26 to the Lipanská stop.
International Business courses are held in this building.
ACCOMMODATION Unfortunately, the Metropolitan University Prague does not have own dormitory and cannot provide housing on
campus. In process of finding your accommodation, be careful. We cooperate with some hotels (dormitory style)
that offer long-term stays in Prague:

weeks of tuition and is followed by a 5-week examination period.

Courses for exchange students All exchange students can choose from both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree courses (it is an advantage given to exchange students only) from the lists mentioned bellow with one exception: in case your major is not International Business, you cannot take any classes from this department as, unfortunately, the places are limited.
Every subject is credited by 5 ECTS, including foreign languages and Czech for Foreigners.
MUP CLASSIFICATION SCALE: • 1 - Excellent: 88 – 100% • 2 - Very good: 74 – 87% • 3 - Good: 64 – 73% • 4 - Fail: 0 – 63% Every course is allocated 90 minutes of in-class lecturing per week during the 12 weeks of the semester. Students are expected to dedicate approximately the same amount of time to readings and class preparation. The complete three-year Bachelor’s Degree study programme at Metropolitan University Prague is equivalent to 180 ECTS credits. The complete Master’s Degree study programme at Metropolitan University Prague is equivalent to 120 ECTS credits.
Language Courses Czech Language for Foreigners
Exchange students can attend free of charge the language course Czech for Foreigners. Lectures are held twice a
week in MUP Jarov building, Učňovská 100/1.
Foreign Language Courses: English, French, German, Russian, Spanish
You may also attend other language courses free of charge. Beside Czech for Foreigners, MUP Department of
Foreign Languages offers the following language courses on different levels: English, French, German, Russian, and
Spanish. The courses take place in the language classrooms of MUP Jarov building, Učňovská 100/1.
Sport Courses MUP Sports Club offers MUP and exchange students diverse sport and fitness courses such as ballet for beginners,
basketball, beach volleyball, body styling, BOSU, circuit training, climbing, floorball, futsal, golf, Irish set dancing,
modern and contemporary dance, power yoga, Thai boxing, zumba. The students pay for attending these courses,
and vary every semester. The fee for one semester-long course is approximately 400 CZK. MUP Sports Club also
organises annual tournaments in beach volleyball, indoor soccer, golf, table tennis and regular skiing, and cycling and
hiking trips.

MUP library and study room The Jiří Hájek Specialised Library is located in MUP Strašnice building
and provides study-related services to MUP and exchange students,
collects, maintains, and loans specialised literature with respect to the
requirements of MUP study programme and their objectives. Students
are welcome to use on-line catalogue at

The usual loan period is fourteen days.
Adjacent to the library is a study room where you can find work
stations equipped with computers. You may use this area to access online study materials, edit your documents,
save your files, and scan and photocopy at the self-service photocopier.
MUP Buddy Team Organising of MUP Buddy Team is our way to help incoming exchange students establish social and academic
network as soon as they arrive in Prague.
MUP Buddy Team members = Czech students-volunteers are ready to:

• to provide pick-up at the airport / train / bus station
• assist when reporting to the Foreign Police
