Student Surveys Unit Mission

• To lead, innovate and collaborate to provide a comprehensive and coordinated approach to surveying the student experience and to develop understanding of the student experience.

• To be a central hub for surveying activity and work closely with EUSA, staff in Schools, Colleges and Central Support Services to co-ordinate, deliver and report on key University wide surveys.

 What we have achieved from 2012 – 2014

• We are now established as a new central service having built awareness, credibility and a positive reputation.

• We offer advice, administration, analysis and reporting of all key university wide surveys and ad-hoc surveys.

• We provide reports and analysis in support of key decision makers and make information widely accessible to staff through the Student Surveys wiki.

• We have improved the Student Surveys website and wiki pages.

• We are successfully piloting EvaSys in 11 Schools with plans for further development.

• We now have 2 iterations of the Edinburgh Student Experience Survey.

• We successfully deliver NSS, PTES, PRES.

• We deliver New Student Survey, Personal Tutor (both staff and students), Staff Survey.

• We are in the process of introducing the Student Panel.

• We have seen a rise in response rate for the major surveys.

Student Surveys Unit - who we work with

Student Communications• Promoting the surveys prior to and during survey season• Communicating the changes made as a direct result of survey feedback.

Student Systems• Student data is provided by Student Systems.

Schools Council• Student Surveys and Student Council are working together on

recruitment for the Student Panel.

Pre-Arrival and Induction• Work in collaboration on the New Student Survey.

Schools• Work together to promote the major surveys to maximise response rate.• Provide data and analysis in response to ad-hoc requests.

How we contribute to making the student experience at The University of Edinburgh better!

• We administer the surveys that ask the students what is working / what is not?

• We analyse the information that the students are telling us.

• We communicate the results to colleagues and students.

• Changes are implemented as a result of the information gained through the surveys.
