Introduction Welcome to Write Experience’s Student User Guide! This guide will help you get started with Write Experience by providing in depth, step-by-step instructions, created specifically for the student user.

First Time Login

1 Navigate to: login.cengagebrain.com Note: If this is your first time using a Cengage Learning Product, you will need to create a new account.

2 Click “Register A Product” in the center of the page.

3 Enter the Write Experience access code that either came with your text or which you purchased online, then click Register:

Complete the Account Information form, read and accept the license agreement, then click continue.

5 Select your location, then institution type. Locate your school through one of the available search options.

After you locate your institution, you will be directed to your dashboard.

7 To access the Write Experience product that you registered, click the open button next to it in your dashboard.

8 The first time you open Write Experience you will be prompted to enter your Course Key Code. (Your instructor will provide you with this course key as it is unique for each course.) You must enter this course key to enroll in your course.

Returning User If you have previously used CengageBrain, navigate to login.cengagebrain.com and login to your account. Register your Write Experience access code just like other products you have registered previously.

Beginning an Assignment

1 Click “Assignments” from the grey navigation bar on your Write Experience dashboard.

2 Select your course from the Assignment Center list.

3 Click “Start” next to the assignment you want to work on from the list that appears

at the bottom of the page.

4 Assignment instructions will appear in a new window. When you are ready to begin, click “Start Your Assignment.”

5 Compose your assignment in the My Writing Space area at the bottom of the page.

6 When you are done, click “Submit Assignment,” or choose “Save and Finish Later to return and finish the assignment another time.

1 After completing your assignment, go to the Progress tab on your grey navigation bar.

2 Select a course and an assignment from the drop down menus available.

3 You will see a performance report that gives you a holisitc score, as well as a graphical representation of your performance in each area of the grading rubric.

4 You will also find revision goals, which provide you with guidelines for improving your writing based on your current score. You can expand each piece of feedback for more detail by clicking on it.
