Day-Use Amenities and FeesFrom the Hilltop Day-use Area, you can enjoy the grand westward view or set off to explore the trail system. A reservable picnic shelter is available for group functions, and a fenced off-leash area for pets can be found at the north end. Just to the east of the day-use area among the trees is an 18-hole mountain-style disc golf course; there is a three-hole course between East and West Dairy Creek Camps as well.Day-use parking permits are required in the park all year. You can buy a daily permit at the day-use area registration station or a 12- or 24-month permit at the welcome center registration window. Your camping receipt serves as a daily permit for the days that you are registered.
Wooded TrailsWith more than 30 miles of multi-use trails, Stub Stewart is a premier destination for hikers, bicyclists, and horseback riders. Many of the trails have names recalling the area’s logging history. Some connect with the 21-mile-long Banks-Vernonia State Trail, which bisects Stub Stewart for nearly 4 miles on a north-south route. Other trails are specially designated for mountain bikers and disc golfers to enjoy. For more information, see the park trails map.
Discovery DepotThe Discovery Depot, located in the welcome center, sells trail maps and recreation guides along with postcards and other items for nature lovers. Call (503) 324-0606 for current hours and additional information.
