BCL-XL is anti-apoptotic protein.

Enhancing apoptotic responses of cancer cells by inhibiting BCL-XL.

Instead of inhibiting multiple anti-apoptotic BCL-2 family members, a BCL-XL–selective inhibitor would be expected to minimize the toxicity to normal tissues.
