Thank you for supporting Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game OP with a Stronghold Kit! This kit contains numerous prizes to help you support events in your store and your Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game community.

These guidelines contain two recommended options for using most of the prizes in this kit: three Conflict Tournaments or three Dyansty Leagues (four tournaments per league). There is also an event outline for an additional tournament: the Stronghold Showdown. If you follow any of these event outlines, the name easily informs players of what to expect at your event. Alternatively, you can use the included contents to support play events in your store in another way.

Organizer Discretionary PrizesThis Stronghold Kit contains an extra copy of each prize card (except the patronage card) and an extra set of acrylic fate tokens. These materials are for the organizer, another leader, or a player and may be distributed however the organizer sees fit.

Wandering Ronin (Patronage Card)The Wandering Ronin extended art card is a bonus included in this kit to reward customers who buy Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game products in your store.

Reinforcement KitsWhile each store is limited to one Stronghold Kit, you can purchase multiple Reinforcement Kits. Each one includes additional copies of each prize card and patronage card. We recommend adding a Reinforcement Kit for each additional 8 players beyond the 32 players the Stronghold Kit supports. Please see the Reinforcement Kit Outline for more details.

Conflict Tournament Event OutlineIf you choose to support large events with this Stronghold Kit, the prizes can be easily split into three separate events supporting up to 32 players each. For each event, pair players using Swiss pairings for a number of rounds as outlined in the Basic Structure of the Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game Tournament Regulations. Prize DistributionOnce an event has finished, distribute prizes as outlined below, according to final standings.

Dynasty League Event OutlineIf you choose to support a regular, weekly series of events with this Stronghold Kit, the included prizes support three leagues, each composed of four tournaments. Announce a day of the week that the league will take place. On that day each week, host a tournament consisting of three rounds if you have eight or fewer players, or four rounds if you have nine or more players. For each event, pair players using Swiss pairings as outlined in the Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game Tournament Regulations. You can find the Tournament Regulations on our website at FantasyFlightGames.com/L5R. The organizer should keep track of what clans players play each week—as well as each player’s record—in order to determine prizes at the end of the league.

Prize DistributionAt the end of each tournament, the top player receives the code card and their choice between a card or set of tokens. If there is another undefeated player, that player receives the unchosen card or set of tokens. Otherwise, that prize is given to a player at random. At the end of the league, distribute Best-of-Clan prizes—as well as any remaining Rout, Outwit, or Miya Mystic cards—according to total tournament points over all four events. If tiebreakers are needed, average a player’s tiebreakers across all four weeks. If a player switched clans between events, their record with only that clan is counted for the purpose of determining standings for Best-of-Clan.

Stronghold Showdown Event OutlineThis Stronghold Kit contains materials for a competitive tournament: the Stronghold Showdown. Schedule your Stronghold Showdown to best accommodate your community of players, as long as it takes place during the period of use for this kit.

Participant RequirementsYour Imperial Event must have at least five total participants: four or more players and exactly one organizer. The organizer and other leaders are permitted to play in this tournament as long as there is another leader present to make any rulings on the first leader’s games. Please read the Fundamental Event Document for definitions of these roles and their responsibilities.

Tournament StructureYour Imperial Event must follow the Basic tournament structure outlined in the Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game Tournament Regulations.

Tournament TierYour Imperial Event must be run at the Relaxed tier. The environment of a Relaxed tournament should be about fun and friendly competition. For more information about tournament tiers, please read the Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game Tournament Regulations.

Prize DistributionPrizes for your Imperial Event are awarded based upon a player’s final ranking. Prizes should be given to the appropriate players once a player’s final ranking is guaranteed within a particular prize tier. For example, if there are ever thirty-two players or less in your tournament, award the top thirty-two prize. If you have prizes remaining after awarding one to each deserving player (i.e. there are less players than prizes for a particular prize tier), award a second copy of that prize starting with the highest-ranked player and continuing down the rankings. Distribute these extra prizes in the same manner as the original group of prizes. To determine player rankings, please read the Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game tournament regulations.

◊ Top Thirty-Two: Each player receives one extended art Shameful Display card.

◊ Top Four: Each player receives one playmat.

◊ First Place: The winner receives the acrylic honor bidding dial.

◊ Best-of-Clan: The highest finisher in each clan receives a clan-specific first player token.

While we encourage you to provide us with as much information as possible, you will be asked to submit your event’s location and date, the number of attendees, and the name of the winner. Other useful information we request are quotes and feedback from your players, as well as the winning deck list and overall clan info.
