Mission Statement

To prepare students to become productive, well-informed, and responsible members of society.

Stromburg High School provides a flexible and varied curriculum that meets the intellectual, social, physical, cultural, technological,

and career needs of its students. We are pleased to be able to share information about the many opportunities offered within our

school and departments. Through cooperative efforts between our staff and the community,

we support students' learning and growth both now and in the future.

Literacy for School Improvement

Goal: Implement and assess the effects of the Literacy Improvement Focus for improved reading and writing skills for all

students

Why: Establish procedures to analyze the effectiveness of reading strategies to track student progress

Action Plan: Create and administer quarterly benchmark assessments to track progress continuously throughout the

school year

Goal: Review and revise the Special Education identification process to ensure students with special needs are receiving

Action Plan: Collaborate with specialists to identify students that qualify for special education services and provide ongoing staff development to regular and special education teachers to

improve their teaching skills to ensure the success of all students

Goal: Review and revise the Gifted program to ensure challenging learning experiences

modalities in the classroom

Goal: Develop strategies to explicitly teach reading comprehension skills

Why: Data reveals that reading comprehension is a major area of weakness

Action Plan: Focus on reading comprehension skills (literal, inferential, and critical reading skills), determine common

content and literacy skills for vertical and horizontal mastery at each grade level, incorporate higher level thinking skills with

guidance provided by a literacy coach

Why: So students can routinely and efficiently use online information resources to meet needs for collaboration,

research, publications, communications, and productivity

organized community fund raisers
