STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Monday, 25th May, 2020 we moved to fulltime return to school for stu-dents. It was really wonderful to have our students return to Kingswood South Public School. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who have followed our directions ensuring we can keep in line with the Australian Health Guidelines. It has been a very smooth transition for our returning students. Below I have outlined our current arrival and departure of student information for you. 1. A reminder that in the morning when dropping off your children at the

middle school gate it is “kiss and drop”. Miss Martin is at the gate to welcome students and answer any questions parents have. Some ex-ceptions will be made for preschool students who need to be signed in at the preschool, however only one parent is allowed to enter with the preschool student.

2. In the afternoon we would encourage parents to stay in the bottom front grassed area of the school and teachers can bring the children to meet you. We are staggering our students departure in the afternoon. New Basketball Court

Work has commenced on the school’s new out-door covered Basketball Court. It is estimated that the court will take a couple of months until it is completed. The school is also building a new large sandpit next to the school hall for our young-er students to use at lunchtime and recess. We are hoping this will be completed in the next two weeks. We are also purchasing some sensory sta-tions to put in the playground for our students to use. We want to keep our playground an interesting play space where our students can all find something to do.

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The Week runs from 27 May to 3 June every year. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the rec-onciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.

Bookclub

Order forms have been sent home to families this week. All orders need to be completed online via the Scholastic Website by Friday the 19th June, 2020. No orders or money are to be sent to school.

Kindergarten and Preschool Enrolment 2021

Kindergarten and Preschool Enrolments for 2021 are now being accepted. Please contact our school office between 8.30am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday to collect the enrolment forms. Complet-ed application forms should be returned to the School Office together with the child’s original Birth Cer-tificate, current Immunisation Certificate and 100pt proof of residential address.

Student Awards

Under the current restrictions we are not allowing parents on the school grounds for School Assem-blies. Students will continue to be recognised with school awards for academic and behaviour. Awards will be presented every fortnight in the student’s classrooms. Pictures and notifications will be in the school newsletter. Our first Term 2 awards will be presented next week.

P&C NEWS

Welcome Back to Term 2 Face to face learning. Please remember to reach out if you need to, we are here to support where we can and help each other through the difficult days and months ahead, you are not alone. At the moment we do not have a date for when School Banking will re-commence. We will advise once this information is available. The Uniform shop is closed until further notice, however orders can be placed over the phone at

school and payment can be made over the phone with EFTPOS or online to the P & C Account, (bank

details on bottom of order form). Orders will be processed and uniforms given to students or arrange-

ments can be made to pick up. An order form is included in this newsletter.

At this stage our next meeting is Wednesday 3rd June 2020 at 7pm in the school library. Please come along and have your say and find out what is going on. Without the support of you the parents and carers we would not be able to give as much back to the school as we do.

Student Banking All student banking is currently suspended. School Banking when it resumes will be every Thurs-day. Bank books are to be placed in the box provided in the office before 9.00am. School Banking of-fers students incentives to save and the P&C receives fundraising support from the bank from all de-posits made. To open up a bank account for your child you will need to go to the Commonwealth Bank.

Finally, this week we were contacted by a local company Nepean Boltmaster who wanted to support schools in the local area. They have donated to our school 24 bottles of Gel Sanitizer to help us keep our kids safe. I would like to thank the company for their generous donation and thank Mr Hunt who delivered the sanitizer to the school for us. Regards Ms Sandra Martin
