Striders NewsMaking Strides Against Breast CancerThe 2014 Strides walk was a tremendous success and we owe it all to people in the Greater Orlando area! The Orlando Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is ranked 1st in Florida in both in dollars raised and in number of participants. And we are in the Top 10 in the nation in both categories as well. Having that kind of support in Central Florida is important, not simply for bragging rights, but because our state ranks 2nd in the nation in number of breast cancer deaths. That’s a statistic we must address and we can with your help!

The 2015 Making Strides Walk will be celebrating our 19th Anniversary in Orlando. I am confident that we can continue to break records, besting last year’s 55,000+ walkers and 1126 teams, and reaching this year’s $1Million Goal. We welcome our steadfast walkers and new team members to become a part of this ambitious goal. In fact we will need you to reach out to your friends and co-workers and invite them to join us on October 31st at 9:00am at Lake Eola for our biggest event yet.

Consider starting your own team. Last year, our teams brought in the bulk of our donations as they encouraged others to join in on the fun while supporting their sisters, mothers, aunts, grandmothers, friends and neighbors who must face the diagnosis of breast cancer. Many of the participants are survivors while others often walk in honor of a loved one. Whatever your reasons, there are many opportunities to get involved and we welcome you!

In the past few years alone, cancer has seen stunning breakthroughs in prevention and screening, as well as targeted therapies for hard-to-treat cancers. Now is not the time to cut back on funding.
