Stream-Related Construction and Road Repair Projects From 2005 to the present, DWA has provided the fisheries portion of biological assessments for Federal Biological Opinions related to various Santa Cruz County Public Works projects. These projects have included numerous bridge replacements, bridge retro-fittings and stream-side road repairs with erosive slip outs, giving Mr. Alley considerable experience in working with construction contractors. For example, in 2005 Mr. Alley provided the fishery analysis for replacement of the Olson Road ford with a free-span bridge on West Branch Soquel Creek, satisfying CEQA and federal Biological Opinion requirements. During project implementation, DWA has captured and relocated steelhead, tidewater gobies, California red-legged frogs and other aquatic species from project sites with electrofishing and seining. Alley has supervised cofferdam construction, monitored construction and completed monitoring reports to satisfy regulatory requirements for more than 30 stream-related construction projects where federally and state listed species were at issue. Projects have been located from Santa Cruz County east to San Benito County and south to San Luis Obispo County, with clients including county and city public works departments, RCD’s, water districts and private land owners.
