A Preview of the March 5 & 6th IVGID Strategic Planning SessionsCoralBridge Partners helps IVGID BOT look at strategic planning for District venues

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (February 28, 2015): On Thursday, March 5th from 1-5 pm and Friday, March 6th from 1-4 pm, the IVGID Board of Trustees will be continuing the IVGID Strategic Planning Sessions (that began on Feb. 17th) at the Chateau at Incline Village.

The primary objective of the Strategic Planning Sessions is to achieve commitment from the Board and senior management on strategic direction that will drive IVGID over the next five years (some implementation taking place in year one). CoralBridge Partners was hired to lead the process and are facilitating the three strategic planning sessions. Once the strategic direction has been established for each venue, management is responsible to develop the operational tactics and action steps to implement the plan.

CoralBridge visited 19 IVGID venues a week prior to the Feb. 17th Strategic Planning Session and conducted eight interviews with the BOT and key management staff. The seven most important venues to focus on with regards to planning include: Beaches (Incline, Ski, Burnt Cedar), Golf Courses, Recreation Center, Village Green, Skate Park, High School Fields, and Diamond Peak. In the Feb. 17 th

Strategic Session, they presented a model that depicts the split between strategic and operational activities while also focusing on goals, critical issues and evaluation of the present state of the venues.

IVGID BOT Chairman Jim Smith said, “There is definitely support from the Board to position IVGID as the ‘best place to live, work and play’. One of our main goals is to exceed expectations by providing superior customer service as well as financial and operational excellence at all our facilities.” CoralBridge Managing Principal Jeff Husserl added, “We are taking a strategic, customer-centric approach to improve communication within the Board, between the Board and Management, and between IVGID and its constituents.”

In the next Strategic Sessions, the Management Team will be more engaged in the process of developing the action/steps/tactics and preliminary budget to bring back to the BOT. Additionally, CoralBridge will work with IVGID Human Resources to determine an optimal organizational structure.

General Manager Steve Pinkerton says, "Staff is excited about the prospect of a new Strategic Plan for the District. We have already begun to implement the action steps from the first session and look forward to successfully executing the Plan in conjunction with our Board of Trustees."

District staff/members of the public are welcome to attend the next two strategic sessions to be held on March 5-6th at the Chateau. These meetings will not be webcasted due to the intellectual property request by CoralBridge. CoralBridge Partners has provided summary documents of the Feb. 17th session, which are available to any member of the public. If you are interested in obtaining a copy, please e-mail [email protected] with “Agenda Packet for 3/5 and 3/6” in the subject line.
