Indonesia is going to plan to host the ASEAN-Latin

American Business Forum (ALBF), the minister said that anumber of businesses had confirmed to attend the forum.The ALBF which will be held in Jakarta on July 9-10 will

discuss trade and investment business opportunities in theASEAN and Latin American region.

With declining exports to Europe and the United States, anumber of Latin American countries are looking for newermarkets in the Southeast Asian region, particularly

Trio of Auto Makers ReleaseSurging Sales Figures for JuneThree Indonesian auto makers have reported strong vehicle sales in

June

Honda Prospect Motor said its car sales reached 7,410 units

in June, marking the auto makers best month this year. Car

sales grew 10 percent in May and were more than threetimes higher than the June 2011 sales figure of 2,165 units.

Suzuki Indomobil Sales reported selling 12,121 cars in June,

a rise of 25 percent from its May sales figures and 61

percent higher than the same month last year. Nissan MotorIndonesia said it sold 5,925 cars in June, its second-bestmonthly sales total so far this year.

Astra International, Indonesias leading automaker, which

reported selling 51,002 units in May alone, claiming 53

percent of all car sales in the country during that month.

The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries

(Gaikindo) has reduced its sales target for the year to

850,000 cars from an initial forecast of 1 million on concernabout the regulation.

The new banking rule, which the government put into effect

on June 15, requires consumers to make a minimum 30

percent down payment for new car purchases. The rulingwas intended to improve prudent lending practices at

Indonesian banks.

Citilink to Open 70 DomesticRoutes after Obtaining AOCCitilink Airlines will open 70 domestic and 16 regional routes after

officially received Air Operation Certificate

Citilink currently operates 14 aircraft and 20 by the end of2012, even as Garuda Indonesia Quantum Leap program as

the holding company, Citilink in 2015 will operate 50aircrafts, bringing the total to 194 units with Garuda.

Citilink as LCC will target people who normally do not geton a plane, or for whom who used to ride trains along the

increasing purchasing power. Meanwhile, Garuda with full-

services airline will target different market.

The airline will focus on domestic routes this year and next

year will come into regional routes which taking 3 hours oftravel at maximum such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur,

Penang, and Southern Australia. (Bisnis Indonesia)

Pirelli Factory Development Startsin Late 2012The development of Pirelli Tire SpA tire factory will start in the fourth

quarter of 2012

The tire factory as a result of the cooperation between the

Italian company and PT Astra Otoparts Tbk. Pirelli tire products

will be targeting premium and middle-upper tire segment. Pirelliwill produce motorcycle tires in the first phase, and car tires inthe next phase.

The factory is targeted to start operating in 2014. In the initial

phase, there will be only two million units produced yearly. But,in 2016, factory will fully operate with seven million units of tiresper year 25 percent of Pirellis total global production.

When fully operational, four million units of tires will bemarketed under the brand name of Pirelli and mostly aimed forexport market, especially Asia Pacific region. The remaining

three million units will be under the brand name Aspira and willbe allocated for the domestic market.

Pireli tires factory in Indonesia will not only increase Pirelli tireproduction capacity which is projected to increase to 16 million

units in 2015 from last years 13 million units, but also willstrengthen its presence in the ASEAN market.

Beside Pirelli, South Koreas tire company, Hankook Tire Co Ltd

also put in money in the country. Hankook tire factorydevelopment in Cikarang, West Java is already 82 percentcompleted and will start operating in November 2012.Tire factory development is a part of Hankooks commitment to

invest US$ 1.1 billion, with production capacity of 18 millionunits of tires per year until 2018. Hankook plans to market 95percent of their product for export, and five percent for thedomestic market. (Indonesia Finance Today)
