3INTRODUCTION

Due to the high parameters and reliability, the hybrid integrated circuits of the Sanyo STK family and Sanken STRfamily have a large applying in consumer and professional electronics equipments.

The functional set of STK integrated circuits family is very wide: power audio amplifiers, audio preamplifiersand graphic equalizers, switching and linear type voltage regulators, deflection processor, focus and convergentedrivers for monitors and projection TV, motor drivers and other.

The Sanken (and Allegro affiliated manufacturer) hybrid integrated circuits of the STR family consists basicallyfrom switching and linear type voltage regulators, intended for applying in the TV and video cassette primare (highvoltage) and secondare (low voltage) power supply.

In the accesible literature and in the Internet, the information about STK and STR integrated circuits is verydispersed, incompleted and consequently is not so easily accessible.

This book proposes the short but full prezentation of the majority of STK and STR integrated circuits that existon the market; prezentation consisting from schematic diagrams (schematic of connections and (or) internal struc-ture), short description and basic electrical characteristics.

The integrated circuits with the identical terminal configurations (and connection) are arranged in the sameplace. They are not specifically equivalent (replacements) with each other (can have to different electrical charac-teristics and (or) type of case); for detection of equivalent, in any situation it is necessary to consult a electricalcharacteristics list.

Replacements.Not less than three manufacturers make a lot of integrated circuits which one are the complete pin-to-pin

replacements compatible with STK and STR family circuits, but their order (marking) code does not coincide withthe respective STK or STR circuits. These manufacturers are ECG Microsemi (a Philips USA subdivision (http://www.ecgsemi.com)) that marks its circuits with ECG prefixes; NTE Electronis Inc. (http://www.nteinc.com) thatmarks its circuits with NTE prefixes and TCE (Thomson Consumer Electronics) that marks its circuits with SKprefixes. In the book (appendix 2) we present the list of full equivalences of STK, STR, ECG, NTE and SK integratedcircuits.
