EXAMPLE OFStimulation ProgramBabies 4 to 12 months

Let us arise and build

Booklet prepared by: Phyllisity Diedericks.

This book belongs to:

1. Contained in this booklet are complete weekly development/stimulation programmes for babies aged 4 months to 12 months.

2. Teachers/Caregivers should follow the programme as follow:

❖ Each weekly programme contains ve activities, one for each day. ❖ If the baby is ill, the activity for that day should be done whenever the baby is well again. ❖ If an activity is indicated for the outdoors and the weather does not permit it, the activity

should be switched with another suitable activity for that week. ❖ The progress on each activity should be written in the space provided. ❖ Teachers/Caregivers must send the booklet home to the parents over weekends. This

booklet also contains useful information for parents.❖ Teachers/Caregivers following this programme must ensure that they are well prepared for

each day's activity.

3. The main purpose of every activity in this booklet is to stimulate the baby. 4. It should be fun and followed in a loving and caring environment. 5. Love is more important than reaching any milestone. 6. This should not be treated like a school curriculum with "pass and fail" mentality. 7. This booklet represents a structured framework for teachers/caregivers and parents to work

towards the same goal. 8. Each baby develops at their own pace. If the baby is not ready or not interested in these

months’ activities, just try them again in a few weeks.

1. Infant stimulation can help improve a baby's attention span, memory, curiosity, and nervous system development.

2. In addition, stimulating a baby's senses will enable him/her to reach developmental milestones faster, as well as aid in the development of motor skills.

What is infant stimulation?

❖ Their brains are now developed to explore all the 5 senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.

Stepping up❖ Your active 10 month old probably also has

discovered stairs - and how to climb them. ❖ Most likely, your baby knows how to go up but not

how to come down. ❖ Encourage them to crawl up the stairs, but make sure

you're planted close behind them.❖ Do the same as they manoeuvres their way back

down; help your baby put their knees and feet in the proper positions for the trip back down.

❖ Never leave your baby unattended on or near stairs; those tumbles back down can result in serious injury.
