COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
November brought us another exciting month at the High
School. The annual Powder Puff Football game was an exciting event
where our Senior and Junior girls competed for “bragging rights”. I was
tremendously pleased to see the hard work, practice, and commitment
our girls put forth in preparation for the game. They put on one of the
most exciting exhibitions I have seen yet. Another fine tradition that
makes me Proud to be part of the Susquehanna Community. The
Drama Club put on a fine performance of “CLUE” in the High School
Auditorium. Many of our Academic Programs are working to assist
students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I continue to see
our students grow as young men and women and see their contribution
to our school community broadening as the year progresses.
As we move into the month of December, our Social and
Emotional (SEL) focus shifts to the SPIRIT of Giving. The holiday season
can often be a time of great joy as well as increased stress. I ask that as
we embark on the month of December we take time to reflect on all of
the things we are thankful for and focus on those things we can give,
rather than receive. As your students could tell you, I am a fan of
quotes. As such, I look forward to another exciting month and leave all
with this quote by Maya Angelou: “When we give cheerfully and accept
gratefully, everyone is blessed”.
Sincerely,
Vincent Harper, Principal
Susquehanna Township High School

School Counselor Information
Dear Parents of Susquehanna Township Seniors, Your child’s high school education is nearing completion. The last few years have certainly been challenging and rewarding as your student progressed academically and personally towards graduation day. For many families, higher education is the next step of their journey. But with the stresses of the college application process and trying to figure out financial aid, you and your student are most likely beginning to feel a little overwhelmed. Fortunately, help is available. In cooperation with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), we will be hosting a free FAFSA COMPLETION NIGHT for students and families on DECEMBER 12TH at 6:00pm in the STHS computer lab. Completion of the FAFSA is required to determine eligibility for most student aid programs such as the Pennsylvania State Grant, Federal Pell Grant, institutional awards, and federal student and parent loans. Participants will also be briefed on Pennsylvania‐specific aid programs, as well as the importance of minimizing student loan. A student aid expert from PHEAA will be available to provide information and answer questions. In order to successfully finish the FAFSA on the 12th students and parents must bring: FSA ID (online username needed to electronically sign the FAFSA, Social Security Number, Driver’s License Number (if you have one), Alien Registration Number if you are not a U.S. Citizen, W‐2 Forms, Records of untaxed income received, including workers' compensation, child support, payments to tax‐deferred pension, savings plan, etc., Federal income tax return 2017 tax year, and Current bank statements and records of stocks, bonds, 529 plans, and other investments. The HANNA Powder Puff flag football was played at 7 p.m. on
Tuesday Nov. 20 at Roscoe Warner field. Honoring the Memory of Zach Holtman.
What a fantastic game! Many thanks to those who worked hard on this
event. I think it was the best one ever. The Hanna fans were more than
courageous braving frigid temps and winds. To the coaches, players and
cheerleaders‐ GREAT GAME! Thank you to our principals for officiating the
powder puff. Our Cheer coaches worked with our amazing “cheerleaders”.
Thank you to Coach Lo for commissioning the event and all the help she gave to
the coaches. Not to mention, our chain gang Mark Billante, Aaron Bobb, Nate
Weads and Joe Shay who stood for two hours in the cold holding the markers.
Also, thank you to our announcer, Austin White and his crew in the press box for
keeping us informed of plays and sideline shenanigans. Last but not least a HUGE
thanks and shout out to Lori Shienvold, Kerry Vogelsong Mullen, John Fabian and
Dwayne Defoor for everything Hanna Education Foundation!
Please join the Hanna Foundation Facebook page to see photos courtesy of Lisa
Shay Photography. Lisa captured the game with exciting photos and hilarious
moments.

ago. Hanna's Got Talent has always been a fun, district‐supported event for the entire Hanna
