Setting up a Session
• Determine audience– Ideal size 12-20– Date, time, location
• Emphasize equipment requirements– TV with DVD player, or– Computer with DVD player,

The Introduction
• 7 minutes– Introduce yourself as an authorized
facilitator– Acknowledge tough topic– Provide ground rules for the training
• Not the time or place to discuss personal histories; goal is to focus on learning new skills
• You will keep the training moving along to stay within the allotted time
• Video may cause some normal discomfort
– Review the format of the training; video in 3 parts followed by workbook and discussion

• After each video section, pause the DVD and allow 5 minutes to answer questions in their workbook for that section
• Ask discussion questions after each workbook section – To reinforce main concepts and increase
comprehension– To build rapport and demonstrate the
principles of Stewards of Children– On pages 46 and 47 of your manual and your
Facilitator Training Guide– Ask all required questions and then optional
questions time permitting
