Employment

11/2014 - Present: Independent Contractor with Permanent Position Preferred

3/2014 -11/2014: Continental Refining CompanySenior Project Engineer

This was a temporary position attempting to salvage the smallest refinery in the country while seeking permanent career employment. Developed project specifications, schedule, and established contractors to install a ULSD Hydrotreater

project. Installed and operating in less than three months Installed an OH cooler, reducing Crude unit tower pressure by about 50%. This allowed them to

reduce crude charge from 60% to 40% which allowed higher feed rates of TransMix and condensate, on which they made $9/bbl vs. crude which they made no profit running.

Installed plant fuel gas filters to prevent flameout of heaters during cold weather.

12/2012-1/2014: Intrepid Potash, Carlsbad, NMSenior Project Engineer

Developed construction specifications for use in future projects. Standardized plant equipment wherever possible to reduce storeroom stock. Conducted studies of completed projects to determine where the process could be improved.

6/2002 – 1/2013: Hunt Refining Company, Tuscaloosa, ALSenior Project Engineer (Project Manager)

Managed projects from inception to commissioning ranging up to approximately $25 MM per project, maintaining control of approximately 20 to 30 projects simultaneously.

Worked closely with Engineering Contractors, Construction contractors, Construction Superintendent, and Operations to implement projects for safety, environmental compliance, income improvement, plant sustainability, and to improve reliability, availability, and operability.

Acted in role of Construction Superintendent as required.

Installed multiple redundant safety systems to prevent coke cutting head from exiting the drum during coke cutting operations within 3 months of starting at Hunt.

Installed DCS in majority of plant (75%) where pneumatic controls were still used. Rebuilt Crude Unit Atmospheric Heater to increase capacity and to meet new environmental

standards, including low NOx nozzles and updated Burner Management System. Installed new river dock for barge loading and unloading, placing above record flood levels. Installed oxygen enrichment on two sulfur units, doubling their capacity due to plant expansion. Installed 25 mile pipeline to support increased plant throughput due to major plant expansion. Installed two Flare Gas Recovery systems to support an environmental consent decree. Rehabilitated a 65-year old river water intake structure to provide additional firewater from an

alternate water source to support underwriter’s requirements due to major plant expansion.

Page 3: Steve Davidson Engineering Resume

Installed second Sour Water Stripper in parallel to existing stripper to support increased plant capacity – baseline design for 200 gpm attained over 250 gpm.

Installed EIV’s (Emergency Isolation Valves) in various locations as a result of the DOW Equipment Risk Index study.

Contracting Experience 1997 - 2002

Long Island Projects Lead Project and Startup EngineerPennsylvania Power and Light, Allentown, PA and Long Island, NY

Contract Project Engineer for two power plants on Long Island, each with two GE LM-6000 Sprint units and Deltak SCR's.

Contracted as Startup Engineer for this project under separate contract.

Senior Mechanical Startup EngineerBechtel China Tianjin, China

Provided Contractor startup services for Motorola MOS-17 semiconductor manufacturing facility, including 100,000 square feet of clean room environmental control.

Started up HVAC systems for state-of-the-art clean room. Responsibilities included chilled water, hot water, and clean humidification steam piping, heat

exchangers and pump systems. System acceptance required extensive loop tuning utilizing the Wonderware SCADA interface

with GE Fanuc PLC's and other local controllers.

Digital Data Acquisition and Control System Startup EngineerBechtel Startup Baltimore, MD

Contract Startup Engineer for SCR system on two existing 690-MW coal-fired boilers at Constellation Power Source Generation's Brandon Shores facility.

Verified additions to existing Westinghouse WDPF control system. Implemented modifications to the control system and to the plant equipment to allow the NOx

control equipment to meet performance guarantees.

Senior EngineerBibb Co. Los Angeles, CA

Contractor providing preliminary engineering and performance calculations required for environmental permitting of a 125-MW combined cycle power plant.

Utilized base design for two GE LM6000 gas turbines. Included HRSG for heat recovery, SCR for NOx control, and steam turbo-generator.

Test Engineering Manager – Department Manager – Contract Basis ExtendedParker Hannifin Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division, Mentor, OH

Directed testing of fuel nozzles for gas turbine engines for aerospace and industrial gas turbines for power generation (GE and ABB).

Converted industry from turbine flowmeters to advanced Micro Motion flow meters for better accuracy and repeatability.

Performed prototype assembly and testing of ABB GT24B SEV and GT26B SEV industrial gas turbine fuel feed nozzles.

Page 4: Steve Davidson Engineering Resume

Installed fuel nozzle manufacturing facility near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, performing all project functions with total time to startup of 9 months.

Prior Permanent Positions

Engineering, Maintenance, and MIS Manager (Promotion within company): 5/1996 – 9/1997Allworth of Tennessee, Mount Pleasant, Tennessee

Held overall responsibility for engineering, maintenance and MIS functions at a Hazardous Waste Transfer and Storage Facility.

Author and presenter of technical paper "VOC Control at a Hazardous Waste Storage, Transfer, and Processing Facility" presented at the Air & Waste Management Associations Annual Conference in Toronto (based on project with 3-hour payback period).

Senior Plant Engineer (Project Manager): 11/1991 – 5/1996Aptus Environmental Services, Coffeyville, Kansas

Designed and installed automated conveyor system including Allen Bradley control system resulting in $4,000,000 per year additional production. Recipient of 1992 George Westinghouse Signature Award for Excellence in design and engineering for this project.

Installed sootblowers in the hot duct to reduce slag and ash buildup representing $7,000,000 per year savings. Received 1993 George Westinghouse Signature Award for Excellence in design and engineering for this project.

Installed and tested an oxygen enrichment system to provide enhanced combustion performance reducing environmental emissions events and resulting in $5,000,000 per year in additional production. (Author of a paper entitled "Optimization of Process Performance of a Hazardous Waste Incinerator Using Oxygen Enrichment" presented at the 1995 International Incineration Conference).

Capital Projects Engineer and Maintenance Manager: 5/1978 – 11/1991Tennessee Valley Authority, Paducah, Kentucky and Chattanooga, Tennessee
