Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
Every used reusable item/instrument must be safe for handling by the staff and use on the patient. This course will provide the fundamental knowledge and application skills required to handle and manage reusable items/instruments safely; and the important role in patient care to prevent infections.
Prepare, check and use cleaning equipmentSort, identify, clean and decontaminate surgical instrumentsCheck, assemble and pack surgical instruments and setsDemonstrate basic knowledge in sterilization and use of sterilization process indicatorsManage the sterile storage area and rotation of sterile items Perform distribution of sterile items and collection of used reusable instruments safelyObserve the safety requirements at the workplace
