Forensic Intervention Services is a critical component of the department’s strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety. Working in the Statewide Services Branch, you will support the effective operation of the statewide intake and referral process, the External Providers team and the Prisoner Placement coordinator. There is also opportunity to gain exposure to broader Forensic Intervention Services’ operations and teams. Position Overview

The Statewide Services Branch provides specialist program support to areas within Forensic Interventions Services, which provide offenders in custody and in the community with offence-specific, evidence-based screening, assessment and intervention services to support their rehabilitation. Forensic Intervention Services is a critical component of the department’s strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.

Working in the Statewide Services Branch, you will support the effective operation of the statewide intake and referral process, the External Providers team and the Prisoner Placement coordinator. There is also opportunity to gain exposure to broader Forensic Intervention Services’ operations and teams.

Accountabilities:

Provide a broad range of administrative support to the Statewide Services Branch, including maintenance of registers, preparation of presentations and reports.

Prepare agendas, take minutes and undertake follow-up action where appropriate from meetings.

Work collaboratively within the Intake Unit and the External Providers team to support intake and referral processes, including liaising with Stakeholders and key partners as required.

Data entry, including updating offender records within the Corrections Victoria Intervention Management System (CVIMS) and other spreadsheets/databases, to ensure the accuracy of information relating to the intervention and reintegration status of individual offenders.

Support the monitoring of contracted clinical services across the State, including responding to issues impacting service.

Work as part of a team to implement business as usual activities and support existing and ongoing Statewide Services Branch activities.

Perform other duties as directed.

The successful intern will be joining a team of approximately 26 people, who are very passionate and experienced in what they do. The team have a range of backgrounds and experiences but are all working towards the successful implementation of Forensic Intervention Services.

You will be supported as a member of our team and we will work with you on developing a work and development plan that matches your career goals. In return, you will be expected to demonstrate constructive behaviours, a positive attitude, strong communications skills and the ability to follow through on work assigned to you.

We know you will have lots of questions and we encourage you to ask us, and we will ensure there are mentors available to answer any questions and support you during your internship.

Ideal Degree/Discipline

Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work/ Youth Work, Legal Studies/Law, or related disciplines

Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree

Permanent residents and Australian citizens only

Identify as having disability

Candidates may be required to undergo a background check security clearance
