5  Year  Port  Development  Plan  –  Our  Focus  

!  Maintain & improve the efficiency of existing infrastructure for Port users

and provide the capability for new port developments.

!  Continue the implementation of current development approvals, resulting

in additional and expanded Port uses and Port capacity.

!  Improve utilisation of existing Port land, including through redevelopment

or additional capacity on existing sites.

Outer Harbour dredging & land reclamation works would be subject to demand. A container

terminal within the next 5 years is unlikely as capacity exists at Port Botany.

o  300,000 TEUs moved by rail (14%)

!  In 5 Years if there is no mode change (2.9 million TEUs)

o  At 14% rail mode share $ 406,000 TEUs by rail

# 2.5 million TEUs by road

!  By 2030, again no mode change, 7 million TEUs

o  At 40% rail mode share $ 2.8 million TEUs

!  A  true  24  /  7  supply  chain  across  all  areas  

!  High  Produc3vity  Vehicles  (HPV’s)  able  to  access  the  

port  and  intermodals.  

!  Construc3on  of  the  WestConnex  project  connected  to  

Port  Botany.  

!  Future  proofing  of  Foreshore  Rd  (main  Port  access  Rd)
