The first step was importing the image onto Photoshop to be able to edit. This was done by creating a new page (International A4 paper).
Step 1
![Page 3: Step-by-step Photoshop Image](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022061301/548f8691b479593b4f8b46e2/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Step 2
Using the ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool’ I moved the cursor all around the edge of the image so that it cropped the image itself rather then including the background. This is a precise way of highlighting just the image.

Step 3
After selecting the image and removing the background, I then used the “Eraser Tool” to erase excess parts of the background which was more tricky to remove with the “Magnetic Lasso Tool.” The eraser tool is very good in terms of removing precise parts. For example in the image above, my shoe was tricky to cut around, therefore with the eraser tool I was able to zoom in a remove smaller parts.

Step 4
The “Eraser Tool” was also useful in terms of erasing smaller parts of the background. The tool gave us an option of enlarging or making the eraser smaller to pick parts we were unable to get. There were other options such as the “Smudge Eraser” which could be useful when removing larger parts of a background/image.
Another tool which was essential in removing the background was the “Polygonal Lasso Tool.” This was similar to the “Magnetic Lasso Tool” however this tool gave the option to click wherever we wanted on the image to remove.

Step 4
With this image the same techniques occurred. The main tools which were used in this process was the “Magnetic Lasso Tool” “Polygonal Lasso tool” and the “Eraser Tool”. The other members in my group each had a season and did the same process with the summer, autumn & spring images which were taken of me.

Step 5
The final step was to save the work as a ‘JPEG’ to be able to use the images on the website.

Step 6
The images are therefore ready to be uploaded onto our website.
