Next month features bathroom remodels, so be sure to submit your photo of the bathroom you have done or been a part of since 2011 to the HBAL office no later than April 15, 2013 to be considered as the Best of the Best! Recognition will include a picture of the project along with your company name in the Step by Step publication and a spot on the HBAL website for one month. Entries cannot win in more than one category. Even though spring is here, the present forecast is still showing signs of more of the same. I think we’re all ready for a change for better weather to get things moving! Thank you to Rita Cox and Fred Hoke for taking time to give us a presentation on the new Accela software Building and Safety has started using. This new software is going to be a time saver for all of us who have to take out and manage job permits. The evolution of technology is ver y exciting and a somewhat over whelming learning cur ve at the same time. Thank you to ever yone who participated in or attended the Chili Cook-off. We had a great turn out with over 190 people of all ages who came to support the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation and enjoy some great tasting chili! Unfortunately, there were no entries for this month’s Best of the Best Great Room/Family Room category. Our economy must not have provided the encouragement for families to pursue such an endeavor. Hopefully we can get an entry for next month’s Best of the Best Bathroom Remodel/ Renovation/Addition. The deadline for the Tour of Remodeled Homes sign up was March 15. We have 14 entries for this event which will open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, 2013. Hours are 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. and the cost is $5 per person and free for children 12 years and under. Pencil in next month’s Remodelers Council meeting which will be a tour of Cornerstone Printing and Firespring. They are located in the old Gotcha Covered building on Infinity Drive. 2012 National Green Building Standard: Remodeling Provision Defined April 17, 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. CST The 2012 edition of the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard (NGBS) includes expanded options exclusively for remodelers to certify bath, kitchen and basement remodels and additions as well as whole-house remodels. In this session, the speakers will discuss the ins and outs for certifying remodels. The speakers will also explain how the NGBS’s new streamlined format will be simpler for remodelers and homeowners to understand and use.
