SHAPE THE PRESENT – CHANGE THE FUTURE
CONSULTING. RESEARCH. INNOVATION
“A guest sees more in one hour than his host does in one year.” (Polish proverb)
EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS FOR A SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY
EXPERT CONSULTING: EXPERIENCE AND KNOW-HOW
Since 1991 STENUM has been consulting companies of every size and from many different branches, as well as public and private institutions in Austria and in-ternationally.
SHAPE THE PRESENT – CHANGE THE FUTURE
The innovative and efficient steps we take today will build the groundwork for future corporate success. Our springboard is a comprehensive analysis focu-sing on resource efficiency, energy efficiency and environmental management. Suggested measures taken from this groundwork help our clients use resources efficiently, avoid unnecessary costs and emissions, develop new products and services and implement sustainability in a practical way.
Made-to-fit consulting, research and development and continuous monitoring of the implementation of measures ensure that we orient our program to the needs of our clients.
Behind STENUM stands a highly qualified team with practical experience and academic backgrounds from the fields of technology, the natural sciences and economics. Collaboration with universities, research institutes and other experts ensures the best-possible solutions. All in all our clients have saved over 50 mil-lion Euros – within one year after first implementing measures – through increa-sing energy efficiency, reducing waste and using water and chemicals sparingly.

RESOURCE EFFICIENCY – SAVE MONEY TODAY TO PROTECT TOMORROW
Increasing scarcity of resources, increasing costs for energy and raw materials, stricter conditions and legal requirements, societal demands for transparency, and efficient economies create countless challenges for companies.
COMPREHENSIVE COMPANY ANALYSIS
Complex challenges require an integrated approach: Cleaner Production takes into consideration a variety of factors – technologies, raw materials, emissions, employees, clients, business partners, procedures, products, etc. – thus yielding the best-possible outcome: optimized processes and the use of customized tech-nologies.
A systematic analysis of the material flows with appropriate tools shows the st-arting points for improvements. From here suggestions are made for measures to be taken; innovative concepts are developed for the use of raw materials, water and energy; and research projects are begun.
The ground principle of Cleaner Production is the reduction of costs by reducing waste, wastewater and emissions.

A STRONG FOUNDATION
The development of energy prices and the legal regimentation of carbon dioxide emissions through emissions certificate trading are increasingly bringing compa-nies with high-energy consumption under pressure. To continue to produce com-petitively, companies need strategies for reducing their energy consumption.
STRATEGICALLY OPTIMIZED ENERGY CONSUMPTION
An energy concept for increasing energy efficiency and reducing energy costs demands a strong foundation. Together, we will describe the relevant electricity and heat flows in one consistent picture. This includes:
• Energysupply• Efficiencyofelectricityandheatconsumersinproduction processes and supporting processes• Internalenergydistribution
For this purpose we use professional methods and tools. Given data are supple-mented through measurements and calculations and then depicted graphically. Efficiency factors are calculated while improvement potentials and approaches to heat recovery are devised. The result is an optimized approach to lower inter-nal energy costs in a sustainable way.
Every energy strategy comprises five steps and takes into consideration the inte-gration of regenerative energy carriers:
Introduction of energy-efficient and low-loss technologies•Optimization of workflows and processes •Energy recovery •Internal energy transfer•External energy transfer•
Detailed questions are examined and solutions are developed within research projects in cooperation with competent institutions and partners.

ANCHORING RESOURCE EFFICIENCY IN THE ORGANIZATION
Having to comply with all quality, environmental and safety requirements po-ses countless challenges for companies. Standardized management systems (ISO 14001:2004, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 18000, ISO 16000) represent modern instru-ments for ensuring resource efficiency, occupational safety, legal compliance, quality and environmental protection in an organization. Integrated management systems provide an efficient solution for the improve-ment of internal processes and enable the continuous and long-term reduction of costs. Environmental protection, quality, safety and energy management are given clear, transparent structures and are documented in an integrated hand-book.
