PLANNED GIVING FOR THE GENERATIONS The Ste. Marie Endowment Fund provides for the preservation and maintenance of a beautiful and fitting environment for worship and ministries that take place within our parish community. Our campus offers so many opportunities, but they all require financial resources. Funding from the Legacy Endowment will ensure that more of the weekly collection can be used for the parish operations and ministries. The seven campus buildings include the rectory and garages, the Church, the Holy Angels building which houses the daycare and youth group; the business office, convent and our perpetual adoration Chapel, Joseph House retreat center, Hevey School which houses the bookstore, cafeteria and gymnasium. Sacraments have been celebrated by friends and family, welcoming & blessing people in the church for generations. All the most important moments in your life are celebrated in Church. We are called to be good stewards with the gifts God has bestowed upon us. The endowment fund is a fund for all ages, a guarantee that future generations will celebrate life and faith at Ste. Marie. Our faith is a journey that begins and ends here, Ste. Marie. It’s not just the wealthy who can help. Every bequest is a gift of love, faith and appreciation. PLANNED GIVINGBY GENERATIONMILLENNIALSYou’re o to a great start in life and the future’s in front of you as bright as a new day! And today’s the day you really start becoming the person you are meant to be. A giving person. For your community and your parish, think about the guidance and friendship you receive as well as the important programs we o er, such as daycare, and the support network that embraces you!

FOR GEN-XERSYour day to day probably already involves so much! You are all about family and keeping a hearth burning for the ones you love! You’re on top of making sure they’re on the right path, learning and receiving the sacraments, attending youth groups and being a partner on their spiritual path. You trust their spiritual education and ful llment is in the best hands.

FOR BABY BOOMERSYou’ve earned this. These are the years that shine. And they are made that much richer by your spiritual community. You surround yourself with the positive people you know and you are planning your time to relax. You love to see friends at the next retreat and in between you’re embracing spiritual guidance to keep you on the path.

FOR THE SILENT GENERATIONYou’ve arrived! And you know that your spiritual community is there for you. Whether that’s a comforting home visit or attending a support group and seeing all those familiar faces that give you strength. It’s knowing that a loved one’s funeral is a beautiful tribute and a rmation of life itself. You can count on your parish to be there for you till the gate opens and pray for you there after. Because giving is a life-long

endeavor that we shouldall strive for!Think about your reasons…

History of Ste. Marie ParishThe original church was built between 1880-1890. It was destroyed by re, and rebuilt in 1899 as the church we now worship in today over 100 years later. In 1884 the Holy Angels building was added to the Church; in 1886 the school land was purchased and in 1912 the school was built. The rectory was built in 1911, and the convent, which now houses the parish o ces and our cherished Mother Rivier Eucharist Chapel, was completed in 1917. In 1905, Joseph House was erected and housed the religious who taught in Hevey School. In 1986, it became a Retreat Center and House of Prayer. Monsignor Hevey wanted a Beacon of Light for this French Canadian Catholic community. He established a church, hospital, orphanages, schools, convent, cemetery and credit union. These historic signs of a large French Canadian community continue to stand tall among us as a monument to our forefathers and a challenge to us today. We are grateful for all that God has and continues to do in and through this community of Ste. Marie.

Today, in the midst of our struggling society marked by manifestations of darkness, alienation, loneliness & despair, only the Light of Christ can overcome this darkness; only His Love can bring life out of death. As we continue our journey with God, we keep our focus on Christ through the Eucharist, learning the Word of Christ via retreats, Bible study, and community. We need to preserve this sanctuary, our Campus of Ste. Marie Parish, dedicated to OurBlessed Virgin.

We feel a particular urgency to rekindle and magnify the power of that Beacon;

“ You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. ...In the same way your light must shine before all so that they may see goodness in your acts and give praise to your heavenly Father.” — Matthew 5:14,16

Although I am currently not a registered parishioner of Ste. Marie Parish, it has

impacted my life in many ways. As a young child, I lived at 282 Cartier Street and attended the girls school while my brother attended the Hevey School, which was sta ed by Maristes Brothers, the same order that educated my father when he was a child. My brother later became a Cistercian Monk. My family was a part of the Ste. Marie Parish community. I was baptized here. My mother’s funeral was held here, just two days after I made my First Communion. After that, my family was separated, but our lives were forever intertwined with the Parish. My daughter and her family are members of the Parish, and my granddaughter was married here. While I am active in and feel duty-bound to support my local parish where I am a registered member, my heart will forever be connected to Ste. Marie Parish, which holds so many powerful and spiritual memories from my childhood. In many ways, I consider this my ‘home’ and I have chosen to support it through the Endowment Fund with the hope that my children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren will nd their ‘home’ here as well.
