    Status of Building Centres in AP

    Across 22 districts of Andhra Pradesh 54 Building Centres/

    Nirmithi Kendras (BCs/NKs) have been established over a period of15 years (1989 2004).

    45 BCs /NKs have been established through GoI (MoUD) funding

    and 9 Rural BCs /NKs with GoI (MoRD) funding through HUDCO.

    Out of 54 BCs/NKs 45 pertain to APSHCL.40 BCs/NKs established

    with GoI(MoUD) assistance and 5 Rural BCs/NKs with GoI(MoRD)

    assistance.

    Out of 45 BCs /NKs of HUDCO/APSHCL, 10 are Cyclone BCs

    /NKs.

    APSHCL has established 88 BCs/NKs across 23 districts of AP i.e.

    43 BCs/NKs established on their own

    HUDCO : Purpose of

    Establishment of Building Centres

    Transferring Cost effective technologies from LabTo Land

    to the grass roots.

    Imparting training to skilled and unskilled work force in the

    construction industry.

    Manufacturing of cost effective construction material to be

    utilized in the construction work taken up in the districts and

    also under Weaker Section Housing programme of APSHCL.

    Dissemination of Cost Effective Technologies.

    PRESENT STATUS

    Out of 45 BCs/NKs funded to APSHCL through HUDCO 15

    BCs/Nks are functional.7 BCs/NKs of MoUD and 8 Cyclone

    BCs/NKs of MoUD/kfw.

    A committee is constituted to look into Strengthening of BCs.

    PRESENT STATUSHRO is in receipt of 7 proposals requesting for CSR

    assistance of Rs 20.00 Lakhs each towards :

    Construction of buildings, curing ponds, casting yard, repairs of

    building and equipment.

    Purchase of new machinery.

    Infrastructure -land development, roads, water pipeline.

    Office equipment.

    Pertaining to:

    Bommuru,Rajahmundry-East Godavari district

    Mangalam,Tirupathi- Chittoor District

    Raptadu, Ananthapur District

    Jangaon, Warangal District Dasnapur, Adilabad District

    Enugonda, Mahaboob nagar District

    Keesara, Ranagareddy District

    Out of 7 proposals Bommuru,Rajahmundry-East Godavari district and that

    of Enugonda, Mahaboob Nagar District (2 proposals) have been appraisedand forwarded to HQ.

    Suggestions

    To extend CSR assistance @ Rs.20.00 lakh each to 7 already

    submitted BCs for construction, equipment etc.

    To extend CSR assistance @ Rs.5.00 lakh each to 23 district level BCsfor construction of demonstration units with cost effective

    technologies.

    To extend CSR assistance @ Rs.25.00 lakh each to 3 Zonal

    Knowledge Centres to work on demonstration units with cost

    effective technologies to be utilized for training purposes. Presently BCs are producing RCC door / Window frames, walling

    Blocks. To explore possibilities of diversifying /improving quality of

    products and price competitiveness.

    Quality/ strength testing equipments may be provided to BCs.

    To take up construction of Housing Colony as a model/demonstrationof technologies.

    Training /skill development in Electrical and plumbing works.
