Preface
International development cooperation has been playing an important role in
development financing in Nepal. Nepal receives development cooperation
from 41 bilateral and multilateral development partners. The development
cooperation is mobilized through various mechanisms, including
International Non-governmental Organizations (INGOs). The development
cooperation mobilized through the Government system are reflected in the
Annual budget of the Government and spent under national budgetary
system. Other cooperation mobilized outside the Government budgetary
system and executed by the development partners themselves or by INGOs
are presented in the form of the Statements of Technical and Other
Assistance. The Government of Nepal publishes the summary of those
projects/programs in the Technical Assistance Book each year.
The present publication includes the projects/programs to be implemented in
the coming Fiscal Year 2017/18 under the development cooperation received
in the form of technical and other assistance which are not included in the
national budget. This publication covers brief description of the
project/program including major activities, total/annual budget, districts
covered and development partners supporting the projects/program under
implementation.
The information received from development partners, sectoral ministries and
Social Welfare Council has been used as the primary sources of information
in order to prepare this book. Further, information is complemented by data
reported in Aid Management Platform (AMP) of the International Economic
Cooperation Coordination Division (IECCD), Ministry of Finance.
It is anticipated that this publication will be useful to Government agencies
and development partners to implement and monitor the off-budget
projects/programs. Likewise, information presented in this publication could
be beneficial to individuals interested in foreign aid mobilization in Nepal.
