Revised National TB Control Programme

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you RNTCP Gujarat has initiated state and district specific action plan for the selected technical indicators and Google spreadsheet for the same was implemented for monthly monitoring of such indicators at district and state level. All District level and block level officers, RNTCP staff, GHS staff has been sensitize to achieve such indicators.

All 24 CBNAAT machines received from CTD are functional in the State including additionally received 9 CBNAATs. Proficiency testing for second line LPA submitted to NIRT, Chennai and waiting for the approval.

National level evaluation of UATBC, Pilot project Mehsana was carried out in this quarter.

RNTCP performance during 2nd quarter 2016: During the 2st quarter 1,54,528 presumptive TB patients were examined, 17,769 sputum positive TB patients were diagnosed, and a total of 22,918 all forms of TB patients were registered for treatment. The annualized total case notification rate is 140 cases per 100,000 population. With a total of 10,542 New Smear Positive patients being registered for treatment; the new smear positive TB case Notification Rate (annualized) is 64 per 100,000 population. In addition to this, 2,484 new Smear Negative patients, 3,417 New Extra Pulmonary patients registered for treatment in this quarter. The treatment success rate amongst the New Smear Positive pulmonary TB cases registered in the 2nd Quarter 2015 is 89% and the Sputum Conversion rate of patients registered during 1st Quarter 2016 is 92%. In TB-HIV intensified services 97% patients were tested for HIV out of 22,918 total patients registered during 2nd quarter 2016. PMDT: During this quarter, 9134 MDR-TB suspects were tested for drug susceptibility. Total 688 patients were diagnosed as having drug resistant and eligible for second line treatment. Total 644 patients were put on Category-IV regimen in this quarter. Additionally, 79 patients were put on Category-V regimen. Notification of TB patients from private health providers: 9154 of private practitioners / clinics / hospitals and laboratories are registered under RNTCP for TB notification. A total of 8568 TB patients are notified from these health facilities in the state in 2Q16. Trainings, Supervision and Review meetings: In addition to quarterly review meeting, two state level internal evaluations were conducted during quarter in Devbhumi Dwarka and Mahisagar and Supervisory visit and on site evaluation from IRL also has been conducted in the district by state level team. In the quarter, 16 batches of different kind of RNTCP training were conducted. Total 962 participants were trained.

Recommendations on Transitioning to Daily Regimen 

The following committees have recommended Daily Regimen from various time to time.

At state level, we are going to implement daily regimen for TB‐HIV Co infected patients in near future as instructed by Central TB Division (GoI) in coming months.  

The recommended daily dosage for essential first line anti TB drugs are as mention below; 

Recommended Daily Dosage of Essential First‐line Anti‐TB Drugs (mg/kg Body weight) :
