TheVCAAusesGATscorestostatisticallymoderate schoolbasedassessmentsandtochecktheaccuracyofstudent scoresinexaminations.

TheGATcanalsobeusedinthecalculationofaDerivedExaminationScore(DES) inspecificcircumstanceswherebyastudentmaybeilloraffectedbyotherpersonalcircumstancesatthetimeofanexaminationandwhoseresultsareunlikely toreflecttheirlearningandachievementinthatstudy.
