STAR-CCM+ meshing offers the ultimate combination of automation, speed,
control and reliability. The viability of deploying CFD simulation within the industrial
CAE process often depends on the ability to quickly generate a high-quality
computational mesh. STAR-CCM+ can mesh the most complex geometries
reliably while giving flexibility to the user to choose the level of control desired.
Employing state-of-the-art meshing technology the generation of either
hexahedral, dodecahedral or arbitrary polyhedral cells is possible at the touch of
a button. STAR-CCM+ produces boundary trimmed meshes that strictly conform
to your geometry, as well as high quality prism layer meshes for greater accuracy.
STAR-CCM+ also has tools to automatically generate prismatic meshes for thin
objects such as sheet metals and cylindrical geometries such as pipelines,

Fully conformal meshes across multiple physical continua may be automatically

This process is robust and entirely automatic; whether
run interactively or in batch, STAR-CCM+ features all the
tools required to obtain a high-fidelity representation of the
geometry. The inbuilt 3D-CAD tool allows for parametric
geometry creation, import and modification as well as
automatic fluid extraction. The surface wrapper “shrink-wraps”
a high-quality triangulated surface onto the geometry, closing
holes, joining disconnected and overlapping surfaces as well
as automatically discarding obsolete surfaces.
The STAR-CCM+ single integrated environment provides
the fastest, most automatic route from complex CAD models
to engineering solution. In addition, STAR-CCM+ gives the
choice of using CAD and PLM-embedded front-ends to deliver
the entire simulation workflow.

A flexible approach to parallel processing with
client server architecture.
With an ever increasing need for analysis using complex,
realistic models, STAR-CCM+ is designed to utilize your
hardware resources as effectively as possible. Whether
the compute nodes are a cluster of workstations or a
single supercomputer, at any time, STAR-CCM+ allows
the user full interactive access to all simulation data and
solutions while running.
The software is deployed as a client that handles
the user interface and visualization, and a server which
performs the compute operations. When executed in
parallel, STAR-CCM+ is scalable across any number of processors allowing very large analyses
to be performed, monitored and manipulated from laptops or light weight workstations. Unique
licensing options also allow STAR-CCM+ to be distributed across an unlimited number of
processors for a fixed cost.
The client/server approach is designed to facilitate easy collaboration between members
